‘JAMB coordinator asked me to transfer N16m into different accounts

A prosecution witness, Solomon Adejo, told a Federal Capital Territory (FCT) High Court in Abuja that he transferred N16 million to different accounts on the instructions of a defendant, Yakubu Jekada. The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) charged Jekada, a Joint Matriculation Examination Board (JAMB) official, with criminal breach of trust and misappropriation of N35 million. He was arraigned alongside five others: Philomina Chieshe, Samuel Umoru, Daniel Agbo, Priscilla Ogunsola and Aliyu Yakubu.

Adejo, led in evidence by EFCC counsel Ekene Iheanacho, told the court that the defendant directed him to transfer monies into different accounts, including into his wife’s account. “I have worked in the Jos (Plateau State) JAMB office for 16 years now. The defendant made me revenue officer when he became the co-ordinator of the JAMB office in Jos in 2007 We agreed on the modalities on how the e- facility cards were to be sold. The cards are in a pack of 500 units and are sold at N1,000 per card. “On a certain day, eight packs were sold for N4 million and the defendant collected the money. When we make huge sales, the defendant would ask me to pay the amount into his personal account or his wife’s. “He also instructed me to transfer some money into the account of Tony Eneji, Kogi co-ordinator of the board,” he alleged. When Mr Gyang Zi, counsel to the defendant, asked the witness where the reconciliation document was, he said he did not have it. “I don’t have it. We usually keep it on the desk of Jekada. I did not demand for written instruction because it would amount to insubordination because I don’t know if he has been remitting the money,” Adejo said. After listening to the testimony, Justice Peter Affen, adjourned until May 14 for trial to continue.

How man was accused of killing wife,7 years later, found out his wife was married and had children again

According to the times of India, an Indian man was accused of killing his wife and throwing her body seven years ago, but he insisted that his wife had escaped.

However, seven years later, the man and the police found his wife on Sunday local time, and found that she and her lover had married and had children.

His wife and lover were tried in court on Monday local time.

Abhaya married his wife, Moharana, seven years ago.

After two months of marriage, Mahalana disappeared mysteriously from her mother-in-law's home.

At that time, the 27 year old was unable to find his wife's whereabouts, so he called the police the following month to say that his wife had escaped.

But Mahalana's father refuted, pointing out that his daughter did not run away, but was brutally killed by her husband, Abhaya, because of the dowry. As a result, the police arrested Abhaya.

Abhaya has always suspected that his wife is not missing mysteriously, but eloped with someone. After a month in prison, he was released on bail, and then began a long way to find his wife.

Seven years later, he finally let him track his wife's whereabouts in pipili, and found that she did live with her lover.

After receiving the news from Abhaya and some other clues, the police immediately sent people to pipiri to find and detain Moharana and her lover.

When the police couldn't find his wife, he said, he began to look for her. He went to some places where he thought his wife might go. After learning about his wife's life in Pippi with her lover, he immediately called the police. Abhaya is very happy to be able to "avenge" in seven years.

Okowa refusal to construct Iyede-Ame road has brought untold hardship – Iyede-Ame people

By Simeon Okworide

The people of Iyede-Ame, a coastal village in Isoko nation has cries out to the governor of Delta state, Senator Ifeanyi Okowa, for not constructing a passable road to their village.
The cry became necessary as non-passable road in the area is depriving them a lot of things as majority of them do not know what goes around within the Isoko nation as there is no access road for them to access other places is worrisome.
Sources revealed that non construction of access road in the area has deprived their women from getting married to other Isoko persons, meaning that Governor Okowa has deprived them from everything, including other social funs, because with no passable road, the government of Delta state headed by Senator Ifeanyi Okowa has deprived them their political, economic and social rights as enshrined in the Nigerian Constitution.
Sources further revealed that the only available source of transportation in the area was a pontoon constructed, just after the civil war as the only means of movement which is seriously begging for repairs at the moment and there is no help from anywhere as all pleas to Governor Okowa for access road with a bridge fell on deaf ear.
The elders of the community complaints that their female children could not get married, inspite of their beauty because they cannot access other places in Isoko, not to mention other places is something to worry about.
They concluded that the only way out, is a road with a standard bridge

Felicitations
