Delta at 28: Okowa salutes citizens, says better days are here

Delta Governor, Sen. (Dr) Ifeanyi Okowa, has congratulated Deltans on the 28th anniversary of the creation of the State.

In a message signed by his Chief Press Secretary, Mr Olisa Ifeajika, in Asaba, the governor thanked the people of the state for their resilience, patience, cooperation and support to all administrations that had governed the State in the last 28 years.

He assured that his administration would continue to build on the gains recorded by his predecessors in order to create a stronger Delta .

Felicitating with citizens of the State on the anniversary, the governor said "our beloved State has continued to blossom in spite of challenges confronting us as a people.

``My administration appreciates Deltans for their resilience and peaceful co-existence among us.

"In the last four years that we have been on the saddle, we have continued to build on the gains recorded by our predecessors and I assure you that better days are here for all Deltans as we work towards building a stronger Delta of our dream.

"Through Delta State Capital Territory Development Agency, we have done a lot in the past four years, to make Asaba and environs a befitting state capital.

``We have initiated measures to resolve the nagging flooding in the capital territory through network of storm drainages, which are nearing completion, in addition to two new ones whose contracts were recently awarded.”

The governor restated his appreciation to the people for renewing their mandate to him through a resounding victory at the last general elections, engendered by their overwhelming votes.

``With the re-election and inauguration, we have been re-energised to vigorously deliver on our SMART Agenda drive. I assure Deltans that with their support, we will do more,” he said.

He added that to address critical infrastructural needs in Warri and Effurun axis, ``we have created Warri/Uvwie and Environs Development Agency, and we will continue to scale up development in rural and riverside communities in the state.

"The recent inauguration of road projects in Ijaw and Itsekiri coastal communities by Vice President Yemi Osinbajo is a testimony of our resolve to build a Stronger Delta for our people.

"As Deltans, we have every reason to celebrate our 28 years anniversary as a State as we remain on the right trajectory to development.

``We will continue to operate within the principles of equity, fair play and friendship, which have largely created the atmosphere for peace and development in the State."

Delta and 11 other states, including Edo, were created on Aug. 27, 1991 by the military regime headed by Gen. Ibrahim Babangida.

Nigerian man sentenced to prison for role in $8.3 million medicare fraud

A Nigerian man was sentenced to 46 months in prison today for his role in a durable medical equipment (DME) scheme in which more than $8 million was fraudulently billed to Medicare for DME that was not medically necessary.

Assistant Attorney General Brian A. Benczkowski of the Justice Department’s Criminal Division, U.S. Attorney Nicola T. Hanna of the Central District of California, Special Agent in Charge Timothy B. DeFrancesca of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services Office of Inspector General’s (HHS-OIG) Los Angeles Regional Office, Assistant Director in Charge Paul D. Delacourt of the FBI’s Los Angeles Division and Special Agent in Charge Ryan L. Korner of IRS Criminal Investigation (IRS-CI) Los Angeles Field Office made the announcement.

Ayodeji Temitayo Fatunmbi, 47, of Nigeria, was sentenced to 46 months in prison by U.S. District Judge Christina A. Snyder of the Central District of California, who also ordered Fatunmbi to pay $1,076,893.15 in restitution.  Fatunmbi pleaded guilty on May 8, 2019 to one count of conspiracy to commit health care fraud and one count of conspiracy to commit money laundering.

Fatunmbi was charged along with Olufunke Ibiyemi Fadojutimi, 47, of Carson, California, and Maritza Elizabeth Velasquez, 44, of Las Vegas, Nevada.

As part of his guilty plea, Fatunmbi admitted that he and others paid cash kickbacks to patient recruiters and physicians for fraudulent prescriptions for DME such as power wheelchairs, which the Medicare beneficiaries did not have a legitimate medical need.  Fatunmbi and co-conspirators caused Lutemi Medical Supply (Lutemi), a DME supply company that he co-ran, to submit approximately $8.3 million in claims to Medicare, which resulted in the company being paid over $3.5 million.  Fatunmbi further admitted that he was responsible for $2,090,434 in false and fraudulent claims for medically unnecessary DME and that as a result of his conduct, Medicare paid Lutemi a total of $1,076,893.  In furtherance of this scheme, Fatunmbi and a co-conspirator wrote checks from Lutemi’s bank account to Lutemi employees and others, and Fatunmbi instructed that those monies be returned to him to pay the illegal cash kickbacks to the patient recruiters and doctors, he admitted.  Fatummbi admittedly directed others at Lutemi to engage in these tranactions to conceal the nature and source of the proceeds of the health care fraud conspiracy.

Velasquez pleaded guilty on July 24, 2013, to one count of conspiracy to commit health care fraud, and was sentenced to 15 months in prison and restitution in the amount of $3,411,428.  Fadojutimi was found guilty after a jury trial on July 31, 2014, of one count of conspiracy to commit health care fraud, seven counts of health care fraud and one count of money laundering, and was sentenced to four years in prison and restitution in the amount of $4,372,466.

This case was investigated by the HHS-OIG, the FBI and IRS-CI.  Trial Attorneys Claire Yan, Emily Z. Culbertson and Justin P. Givens of the Criminal Division’s Fraud Section are prosecuting the case.  The Asset Forfeiture Section of the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Central District of California is handling the asset forfeiture aspects of the case.

The Fraud Section leads the Medicare Strike Force, which is part of a joint initiative between the Department of Justice and HHS to focus their efforts to prevent and deter fraud and enforce current anti-fraud laws around the country.  Since its inception in March 2007, the Medicare Fraud Strike Force, which maintains 14 strike forces operating in 23 districts, has charged nearly 4,000 defendants who have collectively billed the Medicare program for more than $14 billion.  In addition, the HHS Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services, working in conjunction with HHS-OIG, are taking steps to increase accountability and decrease the presence of fraudulent providers.

He indicated that Vivian Jill killed the mother at the age of 62 years and claimed that the wealth of the actress is not from the movies she shoots but from money rituals or the occultic group she is a member of.

He warned the public not to eat or patronize any food provided by Vivian Jill all in the name of helping the poor and needy in the society because they add ‘poison’ to it that might eventually kill them.

He levelled several allegations on the popular Kumawood actress coupled with other allegations against Kofi Adomah and Christian Atsu.

Evangelist Addai’s revelation comes just after he accused Vivian Lawrence Jill of being impregnated by her own elder son, Clinton Primpeh.

According to him, Vivian Jill’s elder son is the biological father of her second child and it is the only reason she has not been able to show the ‘real father’ of her second son.

Ali Baba urges Buhari to be proactive in creating future for the next generation

Foremost Nigerian stand-up comedian and actor, Atunyota Alleluya Akpobome, widely known as Ali Baba recently charged President Muhammad Buhari and Nigerians to be futuristic in their dreams.
The ace comedian who took to his social media page said the present administration needs to be proactive in creating the future for the next generation.
“Buhari needs to act now. He must start creating the future, developing our infrastructures and prepare them for the next generation,” he posted.
“The Eiffel Tower was built in the 1800s. Today, that structure is the centre of the economy of Paris. The Pyramids built in the days of Moses, still feed Egypt. The Walls of China. Ali Baba who after completing his academic degree in 1990, relocated to Lagos to develop his comedic talent said he still think about how people tried to discouraged him when he started doing stand-up comedy in 1988.

Lagos police arrest Tekno over public indecency

Popular musician, Augustine Kelechi, aka Tekno was arrested Tuesday by elements of the Lagos State Police command, ostensibly for breaching public decency by displaying half-naked girls in traffic, the police spokesman, deputy superintendent of police, Bala Elkana, said.

“The command has arrested Tekno and the two girls for conveying half naked girls at the Lekki area of Lagos. “He is presently undergoing questioning at the state Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department (SCIID), Panti,” Elkana said.

Our source learnt that Tekno was invited for questioning and then arrested and was undergoing questioning at the state Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department (SCIID), Panti, Yaba. He reportedly was not accompanied by his lawyer


Last week, the popular singer took part in a mobile advertisement that displayed half nude girls, who were dancing seductively in a transparent glass box on a truck around the Lekki-Ikoyi Link Bridge.

Inside the transparent glass truck, Tekno was seen spraying the scantily dressed girls with money as they danced frantically.


Many Nigerians, especially women rights and advocacy groups saw the ad as indecorous and demeaning and objectifying women.

Following the public outcry, the Lagos state government reacted swiftly; condemning the indecent incident and the police opened an investigation and invited Tekno for questioning.

In his defence, Tekno said he merely used the truck to convey his crew to a location for a shoot, which was not intended to breach public decency laws.



But the police said such acts of public indecency was against the criminal code and if after investigation those involved were found guilty, they would be charged to court.



Already, the Lagos State Signage and Advertisement Agency has suspended the advertising firm, Pro-Vision Media Systems Ltd.

After Christian Chukwu, Otedola takes over Sadiq Daba’s medical expenses

Billionaire oil and gas magnate, Chief Femi Otedola, has promised to take care of the medical expenses of ailing Nollywood actor, Sadiq Daba. In a statement on Sunday, Otedola said he was sad to hear that the veteran actor had fallen ill again. In 2017, Daba, who had been battling leukemia and prostate cancer for the past few years, returned to Nigeria having traveled to the UK for medical treatment.

“I heard about Mr. Sadiq Daba’s health condition when it was brought to my attention through an online news story I read two days ago,” Otedola said. “I was saddened to hear that he had taken ill again after overcoming his challenges from prostate cancer just two years ago. From the news report, I gathered that he was rushed to the Emergency unit of Lagos University Teaching Hospital (LUTH) after being diagnosed with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD).



“I must say that even though I don’t know Mr. Daba personally, he is a face I am familiar with through the old TV drama production ‘Cock Crow at Dawn’ which I used to watch while growing up. I was moved by a sense of nostalgia and concern when I read of his medical situation recently and decided to take over his medical bills. He has been visited and arrangements are being made to support him.



“In other climes, the likes of Daba and other actors who paved the way for the entertainment industry and the Nollywood industry in Nigeria (which is touted as the third largest movie industry in the world) would be celebrated as Icons and due recognition would be accorded to them.”



In April, the business tycoon offered to foot the medical bills of Christian Chukwu, former Super Eagles’ coach and captain. He also footed the medical bills of Peter Fregene, former international goalkeeper, and Victor Olaotan, the veteran actor, who was treated in Turkey.

COZA Rape Scandal: Aisha Buhari warns Police IG over intimidation of Timi Dakolo

Nigeria’s First Lady Aisha Buhari has reacted to the claims by singer Timi Dakolo that “some strange men” made attempts to invade his residence, calling on the Inspector General of Police (IGP) to see that justice is done in the rape case involving celebrity photographer, Mrs. Busola Dakolo, and founder of Commonwealth of Zion Assembly (COZA), Pastor Biodun Fatoyinbo. Mrs. Buhari while reacting to the claim tweeted “ATTENTION: INSPECTOR GENERAL OF POLICE #SayNoToRape #JusticeForRapeVictims #SayNoToIntimidation”

However, the police said it has only invited Timi Dakolo and his Wife Busola as part of an “investigation of a criminal conspiracy, falsehood, mischief, and threat to life.” The letter to Mr. Dakolo from the police, inviting him for questioning, signed by Mr. Kolo Yusuf, a Deputy Commissioner of Police with the Inspector General of Police Tactical Squad, Force Headquarters, Abuja, was dated July 18, 2019. In the letter, the police directed Mr. Dakolo to report for interrogation on Tuesday, July 23, 2019 at 10 o’clock for “fact findings.”

But Mr. Dakolo took to his Instagram page to raise the alarm that the police summons is a sign that all is not well. He also raised an alarm over the movement of strange men in a white Toyota mini bus around his house for reasons unknown to him, saying their sight is scary. He shared the development on his Instagram page, thus, “Strange men at the house with guns.” Sources claimed the policemen were about three. Although there is no official information yet on the situation at Dakolo’s residence, sources say the police presence may not be unconnected with his planned questioning.

Timi Dakolo however, shared his fears on his social media page saying: “Our lawyers had told us to get ready for this letter. We have long been ready for your intimidation and dirtiness. For your Ilorin methods and underhand tactics. A pastor? Bribing investigating officials to delay summons? Paying dirty bloggers to fabricate things that cover the truth, going to the IG’s people under dark to force this case to be posted to Abuja? Now this an investigation in Abuja, when you haven’t answered to the rape case against you in Lagos? Rubbishing the legal and criminal system?

“And sending a bus load of armed policemen and shady men lying in wait to intimidate my wife and children today, forcing their way into my home? Is that how the REAL police delivers a letter? This is best you can do? This is why all the hurting women and families’ haven’t come against you? You picked the wrong one and you picked the wrong time. Nigerians are more awake than you think.

“If it’s a fight you want, it’s a war you will get…your filthiness under the guise of Christianity I will expose. Every single thing. I will fight for my wife and my children -it’s the promise I made with my life and one I intend to keep .I will defend them from the unrelenting attack of a weak man who thinks he can use money and power to cover for all of his crimes. “Like I said, we have since been ready. GIVE US THE FIRE, THEN WATCH ME WORK!”

Last month, Mrs. Dakolo made some serious criminal allegations about Fatoyinbo, where she accused him of raping her as a minor. She alleged that the pastor raped her for the first time at her parent’s home and at another time in a secluded road path. She said the incidents occurred before she turned 18 and added that she lost her virginity to him. Her allegations prompted a wave of protest on social media while protesters also marched on the church’s locations in Lagos and Abuja. Her husband, Timi, had also accused Fatoyinbo of taking undue advantage of women at COZA, and leaving them emotionally broken. He had begun a campaign against such acts before his wife granted the now controversial interview.

Fatoyinbo denied the allegations “in every measure”, saying, “I have never in my life raped anybody even as an unbeliever and I am absolutely innocent of this.” The pastor also threatened a lawsuit and proceeded on “leave of absence” more than 48 hours after the allegations were made. The claims have prompted a number of allegations on social media from women abused or raped by people in authority in religious circles, which some have called Nigeria’s #MeToo moment. About four persons have accused Fatoyinbo of sexual assault.

Timi Dakolo said his celebrity photographer wife Busola told him in 2018 about being allegedly raped by Fatoyinbo. “She’s always told me I have something to tell you but she will burst into tears and I will tell her baby take your time,” Timi said during a press conference on Sunday. “She told me last year and if you can remember it was last year I posted that this place you call church is supposed to be a safe place.” He said his wife has tried talking to him about it several times but would only cry or say nothing.

She eventually told him about the rape incidents and that prompted his flurry of social media posts about pastors and their atrocities in church. He also emphasised that he has never met Fatoyinbo or received any gifts from him or being a member of his church. He said his fight is not against the church but a fight to show everyone who has been molested or intimated reasons to share their stories.

However, the allegation has remained polarising. While some people are willing to give the pastor the benefit of the doubt, others believe the pastor is guilty as charged. Many pastors, including the General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Pastor Enoch Adeboye, have also intervened in the matter, ultimately seeking restoration, healing, and justice for both parties.

In a related development, Enough is Enough executive director, Yemi Adamolekun Sunday said Timi Dakolo and his wife will have to consult their lawyer before honoring the police invitation. Adamolekun spoke at a press conference in Lagos, where Timi Dakolo was present. “The Dakolos’ lawyer Falana will be responding to the petition filed against them on Monday,” Adamolekun said. “He will ask the police for further clarification and then take it from there.” Adamolekun affirmed that if the Dakolos will honor the invitation there will be a need for the police to transfer the case to Lagos. She said the Dakolos won’t go to Abuja to answer any questions.

COZA: Nigerian influencer, Nkechi Bianze accuses Pastor Fatoyinbo's agent of offering her money to defend him and then threatening her when she refused

Amidst the controversy ignited by the 'manner' in which armed policemen served an invitation to Timi Dakolo and his wife, Busola, a Nigerian writer and Facebook Influencer, Nkechi Bianze, has alleged that Pastor Biodun Fatoyinbo's agent offered her a huge amount of money to defend the COZA Senior Pastor following the rape allegation against him.

According to Nkechi Bianze, she was also threatened by Pastor Biodun Fatoyinbo's agent if she declines and decides not to remain silent about the offer. In her lengthy post, she stated that she believes Busola's story because the little benefit of doubt the COZA Senior Pastor would have had with her was erased when he and/or his supporters attempted to bribe her to defend him in the “Court of Social Media/Public Opinion”.



She wrote;



HOW PASTOR BIODUN FATOYINBO’S AGENTS CONTACTED AND OFFERED ME MONEY TO DEFEND THEIR PASTOR; THEN WENT AHEAD TO THREATEN ME NOT TO DO OTHERWISE.

On the 20th of June, I decided to take a break from Facebook for a few reasons. I wasn’t in the best state of mind, and I felt I was losing it. I’ve never really been this way all my life but I guess my father’s death is having a more serious effect on me than I’m willing to admit to. I also wanted to focus on a project that I’m working on, and also get acquainted with my new job with minimal distractions. Thus, I decided to take a break off posting on social media for a few weeks.... as I thought maybe that would help.

However, when the news of Busola’s video broke on Friday 28th of June, I was informed by a friend that the news was all over social media. I decided that I was going to take a break from my break to make a post or two and voice my opinion about it after I have done my findings. The reason being that I have spent the past few years of my social media life speaking up against certain ills in the society, especially those directed at Nigerian women.
Same Friday, I had an orientation for my new job. I had to put my phone on flight mode and later switched it off for a huge part of the orientation period because we are not allowed phones on our work stations. After the orientation, I turned my phone on to get the most shocking voicemail of my life. It left a message saying something like “Hello Nkechi Bianze. Straight to the point: there is a rumour that broke out on social media this morning about the alleged rape of Busola Dakolo by Pastor Biodun Fatoyinbo. We are offering you *a large amount of money* to go on your Facebook page and all social media outlets to defend Pastor Biodun Fatoyinbo. Make posts in your usual fierce ways and defend him. And if you do, you shall be handsomely rewarded. You are an influencer; a powerful voice on Nigerian social media, and people read you seriously when you write. It is that influential power that we want to reward you for, but that is if you do as we instruct you. We shall furnish you with details of what you should write and how you should write them. Do all you can in whatever way you can to defend him because he is actually innocent. There are no proofs to the allegations.
But if you decline this offer, then remain silent. Because if you take to your Facebook to write anything that would further tarnish his image, we will hunt you down and make life so difficult for you. This is not a threat... it’s a statement of fact. Be mindful.

If you are accepting this offer, reply to this voice message and we will call you back. Otherwise, delete the message.

We are aware of how stubborn you can be; but now, you have to choose to either make money with your stubbornness or get into trouble with it. Don’t try to play smart here. You can’t win this if you make the wrong choice.

Remember, you have got two options; defend Pastor Biodun Fatoyinbo or remain silent. We are watching you closely.”

I was shaking after listening to the voice message. I stood there deciding what to do. I was not going to accept the offer, so I wasn’t going to reply to the voice message. I saved the message on my phone. When I got home, I wanted to replay it so that I could save it elsewhere but I couldn’t retrieve the voice message.
1. I don’t know how this caller got my private number. I’m very reluctant in releasing my personal number. I change my personal number as soon as I notice too many people already have it.
2. I couldn’t immediately trace the number from the voice message like one can do with some other voice messages. The voicemail machine said it was delivered by an unknown number. The number must have been generated for this purpose.
3. I couldn’t reply because I didn’t want to give the impression that I was accepting the offer.
4. I saved the message and it mysteriously disappeared from my saved voicemail list. I just couldn’t retrieve it. It was like it was programmed to be automatically deleted after it gets played just once. I can’t even explain this.

First of all, I don’t understand why these agents of Biodun considered me a suitable influencer to defend their Pastor. That would have been a very contrasting message from my usual stance on such issues and the previous posts I have made about him. I have never been a fan of pastors who con people of their money and/or have indiscriminate sex with/and rape their church members, including some minors. I have spent the past few years on Facebook speaking out aggressively against them. So, why did they consider me a suitable influencer to do this dirty job? Do they think my friends and followers all have amnesia and fish brains and wouldn’t remember that I have consistently written against such men of god and also notice that my account has either been hacked or I have been paid to go against my actual or usual stance? I was shaken and infuriated. I mean; I know I’m broke, I’ve never been this broke in my life, but I can’t live with myself accepting money to defend a serial rapist, even though still alleged.

When I got back home that day, I wanted to take a break from my break and make a few posts about the alleged rape and the voicemail I received, but as I tried to log back in yesterday, I realized that I’ve been banned from using Facebook on my main personal account till the end of July. Later on, I could still log into my Facebook account. There were several notifications coming into my phone telling me that some people were trying to log into my Facebook account. If I hadn’t turned on two-factor authentication and ALL the security settings by Facebook, my account would have been completely hacked. Even the email address linked to my Facebook account was under attack too. I was logged out several times. I had to change my password and log out of all systems my Facebook and email have been logged into. I spent almost a whole day doing security checks on my Facebook, email and phone number. It was like I was on a real life war with hackers.

I was boiling inside because that was not the time for me to go silent. This is not the time for me not to be able to post. I have had temporary Facebook bans in the past. But I have always been given a reason. In this case, I still don’t know the reason for the temporary ban. I was initially told that I was banned till 28th, then it said 21st of July. There was nothing I could do, so painfully, I decided to be a spectator and wait till I finish serving my ban before I make my statement on that.

Why are they this desperate? Looks like these minions are ready to go any length to defend their daddy. I will have you all know that what these people did (and are probably still doing) was to offer money to many social media influencers. And the ones who refused to accept their offers were threatened to silence.
I have been reading how madam Kemi and a few other influencers are aggressively defending this Fatoyinbo. Lol... The only thing I want to ask them is “How much did he pay you for all these?”. Just to satisfy my curiosity, I’d want to know how much I’d have had in my bank account if I had accepted the deal. Who nor go nor know.

Before I carry on, I want to state that I STAND WITH BUSOLA DAKOLO.

I believe her story 100%. I do NOT need any other side of the story. I believe her and it is on that base I’m taking my stance. The little benefit of doubt Fatoyinbo would have had with me was erased when he and/or his supporters attempted to bribe me to defend him in the “Court of Social Media/Public Opinion”.

Don’t get this twisted: I love money. I get paid to write. But I would die of my conscience if I accept money to defend a rapist and child molester. I would not be able to live with myself if I do that. I would end up making a mockery of all my years of advocacy and standing up for women. I would destroy the credibility of the book I’m currently working on. History would have it down that I once supported and held a brief for a rapist. I might never be able to look my children in the face and tell them that rape is evil and criminal.

And if I keep silent.... these agents would think they have succeeded in threatening me to silence. They would think that I have cowardly declined their offer and remained silent in order not to incur their “wraths”. But I am Nkechi Bianze. I pride in my ability to stand tall and speak my truth, anywhere, any day, any time. That’s my trademark.

Pastor Biodun Fatoyinbo and/or his supporters have bitten more than they can chew. Their cup is full. I hope the guilty faces the music. Because if we let this slide again, we are going to be boosting the morales of upcoming rapists and child molesters and others who are involved in sexual crimes. We need to show an example of how a powerful and famous rapist should be treated.

For those of you asking why Busola waited this long before speaking out, are you for real? Do you know the level of fear and trauma a rape victim goes through? She was a little girl for goodness sake! This is a young girl who was allegedly raped by a powerful pastor who she and her family probably revered. Are you all asking this question in a country with a rape culture yet with less that 35 rape convictions? A country where a victim is perpetually blamed for her rape? A country where rape victims are advised not to speak out because no man would want to marry a woman who has been raped? A country where some men have divorced their wives for being raped at gun point by armed robbers? A country where most people would do anything to defend their pastors? A country where a body like CAN would stand solidly behind any of their own who is accused of any crime like they are standing solidly behind Fatoyinbo? You actually expect a small girl to be able to say she was raped by such a popular pastor in such a country?

Busola is speaking up now because she is grown and strong enough to face the biles that the Nigerian society would throw at her.
She is speaking out now because she knows better and sees herself as being in a position to be the voice of many who are still silent about their similar ordeals.
She’s speaking out now because she has a responsible husband who is ready to back her up and fight for her.

Not many woman are in her position; you would be surprised how many would have spoken up if they had the courage to.

When you ask “Why is she speaking out now”, you are simply promoting the culture of silence. You are simply saying “since she didn’t speak up then, she should have remained silent forever.”

And for those of you asking for evidence and eyewitnesses, I want to ask... are you people alright at all? How many of you have got CCTV cameras in your house 24/7 or cameras that are sensitive to rapists and auto-turns on at the sight of a rapist about to rape? Or how many of you have seen rapists wait for eyewitnesses before they start raping their victims? Please what sort of evidence are you requesting for? Because, I really don’t understand you people.

Most rape cases are proven by circumstances and forensic evidences. There are only very few rape cases with video evidences and eyewitnesses. No rapist would rape under a camera or in the presence of an eyewitness who isn’t an accomplice.

Busola is the voice of many, but she isn’t the only victim. Why the support?
1. She is a soft spoken and calm woman who fits into the society’s definition of “decent”.
2. She is married.
3. She is married to one of the very successful Nigerian artists.

But what if it were a “street girl” with tattoos, or an unmarried woman who is loud, or a girl who has sex with many men? Would you have believed her? Would she have had as many supporters?

While I am glad that Busola is getting this much support, I also want to state that every victim is a victim who deserves the masses to join them in the fight for justice. They don’t have to be soft spoken, “decent”, submissive, married or married to famous people. They just have to be HUMANS for their voices and cries to matter.

Thank you Busola for speaking out. You aren’t only speaking out for yourself, you are speaking out for many who still aren’t courageous to speak out for themselves.

Let us as a society join hands to fight against rape and sexual crimes. We can do it.

And as for those agents who are going around bribing and bullying people to defend their Fatoyinbo, your days are numbered. You overstepped when you picked me. I’m not letting this slide. And I will NOT publish details of how I’m going to hit back; because that would mean giving you heads-up and furnishing you with information of how to defend yourselves from my little wrath.

Domestic violence is becoming rampant now and it just goes on to prove that not all that glitters is gold.

Things aren't as intimate and sweet as they look, beneath all the smiles and glamour, these Nigerian celebrities were once victims of domestic violence before they decided to leave.



1. Freeze

Veteran on-air-personality Freeze (Ifedayo Olarinde) has always had a rocky relationship with his ex-wife Opeyemi Olarinde.


Back in 2015 Freeze went on a spree on Instagram revealing details of his turbulent marriage with his former wife, and mother of his children.

In his revelations, he claimed that he was a victim of domestic abuse, and shared pictures of him with cuts and bruises. According to him, his wife assaulted him during their marriage.

2. Monalisa Chinda

In 2014 Nollywood actress Monalisa Chinda opened up and revealed that she was a victim of domestic abuse in her former marriage. This led to the crash of her first marriage. Monalisa Chinda recently got married to Tonye Victor.

3. Fathia Balogun

Yoruba actress Fathia Balogun was formerly married to Saidi Balogun. They were a power couple not only in the Yoruba scene but in the movie industry in general. Unfortunately their marriage did not last. It was riddled with stories of domestic violence.

4. Foluke Daramola

The busty actress who revealed she was raped when she was a teenager was also a victim of domestic abuse in her first marriage to Tunde Shobowale.

5. Muma Gee

After six years of marriage, Muma Gee and Prince Eke have finally called it quits.

The singer said she decided to end her long-suffering and torture, by filing for divorce against Nollywood actor, Prince Eke.


According to her, Prince Eke used to beat her while they were married.

6. Tiwa Savage

When Tiwa Savage hinted her marriage has its own share of domestic violence, we were shocked. The music diva came out to reveal her marriage wasn't a bed of roses after all.

Barely two years after marriage to Tee Billz, Savage disclosed Tunji Balogun had been hitting her before and after their marriage.

7. Tonto Dikeh

Tonto Dikeh also recently revealed she was a victim of domestic violence.

According to her, her husband Oladunni Churchill physically assaulted her on numerous occasions in their marriage.

In an interview with Media Room Hub Tonto Dikeh revealed amidst tears how her husband battered her.


She claimed that Oladunni Churchill brought in pastors after he beat her up but that didn't do too much because he never owned up to his faults.

8. Georgina Onuoha

Georgina Onuoha has also hinted that she was in an abusive marriage with her ex-husband, DR C Igwegbe.

The veteran actress reposted a woman's confession of being married to a man who molested, beat and humiliated her.

She wrote, "I can imagine her state of mind and what she went through.

I for one would have said this same prayers 6 years ago with so much hate in my heart and can count many others who will equally be saying same prayers. But grace, mercy and forgiveness surpass the pain of wickedness. I succumbed to God's grace and strength.

When Chika Ike announced that her divorce was finalised, she received lots of backlash on social media on her failed marriage – from speculation that “she was not a loyal wife” to rumours that “she got married for money”.

According to her, her ex-husband, known as Mr Eberibi physically assaulted her for years.

She went on to reveal that one of the many fights resulted in a miscarriage.

According to reports, the popular Yoruba actress has been enduring domestic violence for a long time in her marriage but things got worse lately.

Salawa Abeni unveils plans to wed again

Not a pushover in the entertainment industry, Queen Salawa Abeni has been on this terrain since she was 13. Now 58 years old, QSA, as she is fondly called, has her bag of success stories full.

Just back from Hajj after a 10-year hiatus, the Waka Queen, who was challenged in her health for five years revealed this was her first hajj after the illness that claimed all that she had.
“Glory be to Allah because this is a significant trip,” she said.
Recalling her ordeal some years ago, QSA believed her last pilgrimage was significant.
“I just returned from lesser hajj. I went to thank God after 10 years that I’ve been there. I was there in October 2008 but fell terribly ill on February 1, 2009. I was bed-ridden for five years. Today, I thank God I am back on my feet.”

How has she evolved over the years especially now that she sings modernized Waka?
“To be up and retain the position is not easy. I have to also evolve so that I wouldn’t be stagnant. I’ve had collabos with my son, Big Sheff, I’ve had to feature in many shows/concerts to pass the message across that Queen Salawa Abeni is back,” she said.

Accommodating and support me since I came back. The prayers, messages, kind words are quite encouraging.
Overcoming challenges
I always advise that anybody challenged should learn to pray to God. Also, such persons should not be shy to tell others about such challenges. I am not shy to seek assistance. If you like, abuse me and start telling others, I don’t care because I want the best for myself. Don’t be moved by criticisms/hearsays. I don’t give up. If you fall, you will rise again.
Mentoring
I have a handful of mentees and they are doing well. Though some of them don’t sing Waka, they have chosen to toe the religion line.

Inspiration
Whenever I’m on stage, my inspiration is the crowd. Whenever I see people and a crowd of loved ones, I am inspired. It strengthens me.

Life as an artiste

I believe an artiste should be focused and refuse distraction. For young artiste, I think they should sing meaningful songs that would extend beyond the time they are. Young people should be patient, prayerful and meaningful. I remember a concert I performed in Germany. I try as much as possible to allow fans understand whatever I am singing. God is also my strength because you cannot claim to be happy and singing without dancing.

Support System

God has always surrounded me with good people who assisted me and still do in every step of the way. The journey has not been easy especially when I was raising my kids. To be able to still be relevant after so many years in the industry is a mystery. My first trip abroad was in 1978. I also went for Hajj in 1978 and from there; God started upgrading me to the next level. After that, I started travelling abroad.


Memorable Concerts
I would not forget Benson and Hedges show which held at Tafawa Balewa Square, Lagos some years ago. It featured Sir Shina Peters, Femi Kuti and many big artistes. We were accommodated in Federal Palace Hotel and I was instructed to perform the last show. That could be a challenge to some artistes because fans could decide going before you climb the stage. The show was quite unique because you can’t even watch another artiste before your performance. When it was your turn to perform, organizers would come and request for your appearance. My turn was 6am. By time my name was announced, the crowd surged! They made so much noise and I was so happy. I started singing and they sang along with me. By 8.30am, the crowd still asked for more. They sang, ‘All we are saying, Salawa, give us more music,’ I was surprised because I would have continued but I had a show in Ijebu in the afternoon. It was a great time. Also, I would not forget another show I had in Queen Elizabeth Hall in England. That was about four years ago and two of us performed. I was the only black artiste because the other performer was a white man. I sang and the crowd asked for more because I was the artiste that closed the show.

Strength
It comes from God because I don’t drink or smoke. I realise that anytime I start to perform, I get inspired and the strength to go on and on comes upon me. You can’t perform without strength because I love dancing. At 58 now, I dance and dance while performing. Whenever I see older artistes like King Sunny Ade, Evangelist Ebenezar Obey, and others are still performing in their 70s. Even artistes in their 60s are performing.


Marriage/Career
Whatever you are doing that gets you a livelihood and you become famous or successful, people would get jealous and could bad-mouth you.
I was once married to Chief Kollington Ayinla but we are no longer together. I don’t want to comment on that because the union produced wonderful children. Now, I am not married but I have lovely kids. That a woman is successful in her career and still married is good. That’s a plus. On the other hand, it does not mean the woman who is divorced or single is of bad behavior—she is not abnormal. It could be a challenge and such women should move on and stop seeing everyone as an enemy.
They should also learn to ignore whatever negative words people are saying. There is no woman who doesn’t want to be married. Though there could be challenges, I believe God can give everyone a new beginning. Even at my age, I know and believe God can give me a new beginning. So, don’t give up!

Church, Islamic, Political leaders want TB Joshua banned in Israel, reject his crusade

Churches, Islamic clerics and political groups in Nazareth, the largest city in the northern district of Israel, have joined forces against a two-day crusade being planned by Nigerian preacher, TB Joshua, at Mount Precipice.

The churches and Islamic leaders want Joshua banned from preaching in Israel and called for the cancellation of the planned crusade, Israeli’s popular newspaper, Haaretz, reports on Thursday.

According to the newspaper, church officials meeting in Nazareth several days ago urged residents to boycott the event and clerics to avoid any mention of it in their sermons.

“We beg you not to play in the hands of those organizing this type of festival which is an affront to the principles of Christianity, and our national identity, and deals a blow to the social fabric of a city like Nazareth,” the churches were quoted as saying.

Haaretz reports that the church officials quoted text from the New Testament about how believers must be cautious about false messiahs who try to convince people they’re performing miracles.

Most of the churches in Nazareth have reportedly signed their support for the statement – all but the Roman Catholic Church, which has avoided taking a clear stand.

Joshua, arguably one of the most popular TV figures in Africa and Latin America, is set to hold two events at a Christian site in the city.

Joshua is the founder of The Synagogue, Church of All Nations, a Christian organization that runs the Emmanuel TV television station from Lagos, which has a YouTube channel with 1.5 million subscribers.  Arguably one of the most popular figures on television across Africa and Latin America, Joshua has 3.5 million followers on Facebook.

T.B. Joshua, a controversial pastor whose sermon has drawn criticisms, is famous for performing miracles in his Lagos church attended by thousands every week. His visit to Israel is supported by Nazareth Mayor Ali Sallam, but many in the city oppose it, some of them alleging that the pastor has ties to far-right Israelis.  

He has visited Israel in the past and written of forging a covenant with God to start his ministry, as well as hinting a couple of years ago of considering relocation to Israel.

Thousands participate in his prayer sessions and exorcism rituals. Many video clips have been released on social media in recent days announcing the "rock-star" pastor’s visit.

In response to a query from Haaretz, Father Emil Shopany of the Catholic Church said there’s no reason not to host such a visit and that he, as opposed to others, will support the mayor’s position. He said Nazareth is an open city and that you cannot stop a religious man from abroad who decides to visit from holding prayers like thousands of pilgrims do.

But even members of Sallam’s coalition have criticized the visit. Haj Samir Sa’adi, a city councilor, has expressed his opposition to Joshua’s visit in a letter and has urged its cancellation.

“The planned visit by the person called T.B. Joshua to the city of the Annunciation is a challenge to the Christian faith in the city of Jesus’s boyhood and the Nazareth of ancient history, which does not need such a stain as this in which a false prophet exploits Mount Precipice to disseminate his lies,” he wrote.

Muslims from Nazareth and elsewhere have joined Sa’adi’s protests, among them the council of muftis, which has urged that the event be cancelled: “This is an event that would offend believers of all ethnic groups and religions and should be seen as a red line for faith in religious values. Therefore we call upon those who are behind the event to see to its immediate cancellation,” their statement said.

Among politicians, the event is also seen as volatile, and calls have been issued on social media to block the main roads to Mount Precipice. The Hadash and Youth for Change parties in the city council have demanded a meeting about the decision to invite the pastor to hold an event at a city installation against the wishes of the majority of residents.

“We have asked to take an in-depth look at this issue, at why a city like Nazareth would receive such a person who is denied entry to many countries on grounds of criminal suspicions and given his links to the extreme right in Israel,” they wrote. “What's more, the man is known to have grown wealthy in a way that has raised many questions and therefore we view such a visit as an illegitimate step which contaminates the city and its historic heritage, and we absolutely reject the mayor’s claims that such an event would bring $1 million to the city and would see such a sum were it to actually materialize as an illegitimate contribution that would contaminate the city.”

The mayor has not responded to appeals by Haaretz for comment.

Police are meanwhile preparing for an expected crowd of 15,000 people at the event.

Joshua visited Israel two years ago, hosted by ZAKA founder Yehuda Meshi Zahav. Meshi Zahav has also visited Joshua in Nigeria. During his visit, Joshua met with Idan Greenbaum, the Jordan Valley regional council head.

Channel 12 reported at the time that Joshua had said he plans to move his operations to Israel and that he said that six out of 10 foreigners visiting Nigeria attend exorcism rites at Joshua’s church. Greenbaum said a number of ideas were raised in their meeting to contribute to tourism in the Jordan Valley and Sea of Galilee area, but these ideas have not yet been carried out. But Greenbaum said that Joshua’s visit had received wide media coverage in his country and attracted tourism to Israel and the Jordan Valley.



Haaretz reports that a statement released ahead of Joshua’s visit says this would be his first event in the Middle East, that it would have a positive impact on the local economy, and that he has visited Israel many times and met with leading officials including Tourism Minister Yariv Levin, Communications Minister Ayoub Kara and Chief Rabbi David Lau.

Court allegedly sentences musician to 2 years imprisonment

We gathered that a magistrate court in Kano has sentenced a singer, Mohammed Yusuf, to two years imprisonment for defaming the character of the state governor, Abdullahi Ganduje, in his hit song.

According to reports, Yusuf's song which was intended to praise Emir of Kano Muhammadu Sanusi II contained some stanzas in which he outrightly defamed Governor Ganduje. Daily Nigerian reports that the singer, Mohammed, was arrested by the police on Monday, June 17 and arraigned before magistrate court at 72 Noman’s Land in Kano, presided by Aminu Gabari.

It was gathered that the court found Yusuf guilty of three-count charges; of releasing a song without the approval of the Kano state Censorship Board, releasing a video without obtaining approval and defamation of the character of Governor Ganduje.

In the said hit song, the singer had stated that the governor can sell his wife, Goggo, because of money. Some lines in the song read: "Kano governor has already turned blind, I swear what you did is hurting us, for lucre, governor is more than a thief, for lucre, governor can sell out Goggo." Meanwhile, Muhammadu Sanusi II and Governor Ganduje have been ordered to maintain status quo. The order is in respect of the interim order issued against Ganduje which stopped the governor from appointing four new emirs in Kano state. Barr. Ibrahim Mukhtar, counsel to Ganduje, urged the court to vacate the order of maintaining status quo.

I Never Donated Giddy's Place To Ras Kimono Foundation - Nwaomu

The CEO of the popular Giddy's Place, a one stop bar located at the heart of Asaba metropolis, Mr. Gideon Nwaomu has said that he never donated the Giddy's Place to Ras Kimono Foundation.
He made this clarification over a telephone conversation when we called him to find out the true state of things with the popular bar.

Nwaomu stated that he only briefed the press about his intention to quit business and at the same time intimated the journalists of his plans to immortalize the late Ras Kimono through a launch of Ras Kimono Foundation.
The man popularly known as Giddy's affirmed that he was quoted out of context. He also cleared that he had sold the Giddy's Place to completely wind down the business.
Earlier, there was a report that Mr. Nwaomu had quit business and in turn donated the landed property housing Giddy's Place to Ras Kimono Foundation, a soon to be launched project in memory of the late Raggae maestro.
Not too long, another report emanated from Oge, the eldest daughter of the five children of Ras Kimono, insinuating that some person was launching a fake foundation in memory of her father, just to scam the public.
In all of these scenarios, Mr. Nwaomu therefore posited that he does not need the consent of Oge to launch a foundation in memory of his friend, Kimono.

Veteran actor Kanayo O. Kanayo has made himself and his fans proud after bagging a degree from University of Abuja. This major feat is coming years after he became a born again Christian.


The 57-year-old actor announced his latest feat on social media by sharing a clip of himself and some of his course mates at their convocation ceremony. Kanayo who has been a stellar actor of his time bagged a degree in law. As he relished his proud moment, he also congratulated his course mate, Elizabeth Ayua, who he revealed graduated with a first class from the same department and faculty.

Kanayo began his acting career in 1992 when he made his debut appearance in a movie titled The Bondage. Over two decades later and he is still making boss moves. He is currently a United Nations ambassador and bears the title of Member of the Order of the Federal Republic (MFR).

They were tracks by which Bambaata, then aged 24 years old, sang over selections of super melodic reggae rhythms even though his digital profile on Soundcloud declares an affinity for classic hip-hop.

He is not in the habit of mincing words but would rather declare that even though he is one of the new generations of Marleys, he is still experimenting and feeling his way forward in terms of his creative style. It is no big deal because his grand plan is to “do something new with my roots.”
