Rain Storm ravages community
The people of Emu Ebendo, Ndokwa
West Local Government have called on Government to assist the victims of a
recent rain storm in the Community. Speaking to some journalists who visited
the community Mr. Igwuala Patrick a CDC Executive member narrated how the
roof of his house was blown off among others who lost their roofs and houses to
the storm. He further stated that all families lost between 200 to 500 stands
of plantain to it with many of the plantain stands just beginning to produce. He
estimated the loss in the community to be over N 60 million naira in food crops
while the damaged houses are more than twenty. Also speaking Mr. Ugbe Wilfred
the CDC Chairman said that there is no plantain stand now in the community and
in their farms due to the rain storm. The President General of the Community
Mr. Friday Ozobeme appealed to the Delta State Government to come to the aid of
the community especially during this planting season to alleviate the
sufferings of the people who lost their houses and over 10,000 plantain stands
in the community.
