Akpode Endorses Onowakpo

By Jenny Akporero
The immediate past Chairman of Hostcom Isoko Nation Apst. Odiri Akpode Lucky Esq. has endorsed Hon. Onowakpo in fourth coming 2019 general election stressing that this is the first time Isoko people are speaking in one voice politically.
“I am so encouraged by the massive turn out and support of the Isoko people throughout the wards. The bible made it clear that there is time for everything.  This is the time for Hon. Joel Onowakpor Thomas Ewomazino. A man that knows the pains of the people, a man that knows the pains of the orphans, widows, and the less priviledged in our Society. A man that is accessible, a man that you can talk to and he will listen to you anywhere. A man that does not pose himself as lion so that people should fear him. Hon. Joel Onowakpor is a born leader with charisma”.
Apst. Odiri Akpode who is happy with the current political situation in Isoko noted that it is a good thing that the entire Isoko have resolved to troop out in their numbers in the February 16 to vote out the Nebuchadnezzar of our time, saying that enough is enough of leaders that will seat tight in one position for 16 years without meaningful development of the Isoko nation, in spite of the fact that position belongs to the entire Isoko Nation.
Furthermore he stressed that it is high time the Isoko people should place Hon. Joel Onowakpo on top of a white horse so that he can boldly with support of the Isoko people to chest out and chase away the Nebuchadnezzar of Isoko Nation, noting that, that  is what should be done to a man who Isoko deserved to honour.

He observed that Hon. Joel Onowakpo is capable in all ramifications because as a man who has served as Isoko south Local Govt. Chairman, Chairman Board of Internal revenue during the tenure of His Excellency Dr. Emmanuel Ewetan Uduaghan, Co-ordinator Federal Inland revenue for three (3) States, Delta State, River State and Edo State he is a testimony to fact that he will deliver if given a opportunity because he has shown that  he is a technocrat with experience, reliable, accessible, a good listener, generous, accountable with unadulterated integrity, educated and exposed, above all, tested and trusted. How many time did Leo Ogor called a town hall meeting and account for his stewardship for the fruitless and hopeless 16 years in office as a house of Rep. Member? Isoko should be wise, bold, courageous to tell Leo Ogor the truth that enough is enough of your deceit. Isoko people should come out from the shackle of fear and know that one day we will surely die. We should not mortgage our future to the hands of a selfish leader. Never again should we vote out our conscience because of money. Leo has Insulted the entire Isoko both old and young for attempting to come back. It is unfortunate that he ended his political career with disgrace instead of as a hero.  but it is not so late for him to come and surrender for this one week that is remaining instead of being disgrace in the battle field. Come to think of it, what manifesto is he coming with? What is he going to tell the people? Even if Leo Ogor Should bribes people with money to attend his rally, he can not pull half of the crowd that Hon. Joel Onowakpo is Pulling. The kind of crowd that Joel is Pulling is mysterious, is like both spirits and angels are part of the people. We have not seen such in the history of Isoko Nation. Hon. Joel Onowakpo is a goal. I advise all true servants of God to gather together  to pray for wisdom for Hon. Joel Onowakpo because in the realm of the spirit, the  election has been won and loose and the crown of glory has been given to the David of our time who will not seat on power for 16 years. It is only greed and wickedness that will make one man to be in a position for 16 years. What are you really looking for? Leo, please prepare your load and start moving them home now because the glory has departed from you. It is even a shame and disgrace for you to climb any platform that you want to campaign talk of moving from one ward to the other. Please, if you dont have anybody to advise you, please advise yourself. I am ashame of you. Isoko people should rise up and defend this greed and wickedness. A man should be able to live and die for something. Enough is enough.

Delta Guber: Block voting, milestone to be achieved - Isibeluo ... as HOSTCOM takes election sensitization to Itsekiri, Isoko, promise to hold mega rally

By Elo Edremoda and Rita Ossai

The chairman of the Delta state chapter of Host Communities of Nigeria Producing Oil and Gas, Snr. Evang. Gabriel Isibeluo, says voting as a block is a milestone that should be achieved by the group.

The chairman stated this Friday, February 8, in Warri, when HOSTCOM took its election sensitization and mobilization town hall meeting to indigenes of Itsekiri ethnic nation.

Calling on oil and gas host communities to vote in Governor Ifeanyi Okowa in the March 2 governorship polls, he pointed out that until his inception into office, HOSTCOM as a pressure group had no secretariat.

He added that having completed about 80% of demands laid before him, HOSTCOM saw the need to support the governor for his second term bid, which it is optimistic, will take the group to a higher level.

Commending his team for keying into the vision of wholly supporting Sen. Okowa, the evangelist disclosed that the town hall meetings which had stretched into the second week, is already yielding results for the pressure group.

He noted that it was time that members of HOSTCOM get appointments as other people in government agencies, especially the Delta State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission (DESOPADEC).

"When we say we are taking HOSTCOM to another level, we are not about attacking any political party. As a pressure group, we boast that it is our struggle that brought DESOPADEC, but we cannot say 'this is what we got from bringing DESOPADEC'.

"This is the next level we want. We decided that we move to the level where we vote as a block and we won't hide. The governor wants support. We will put out our chests and ask, what do you have for HOSTCOM, so that when the government will be formed, HOSTCOM can write a list as others will be doing.

"It is necessary we achieve that milestone. For us to do this, we have to get our PVCs. We all have to vote one choice. We want to work with Sen. (Dr.) Ifeanyi Okowa, that is our governor.

"As at today, we have a chairman, MD, five executive directors and about 15 commissioners. We want to be a part of the next board. My duty as a chairman is to produce people in the board," Evang. Isibeluo emphasized.

He also recalled the group's visit to the Olu of Warri, Ogiame Ikenwoli, who tasked HOSTCOM on unity.

The chairman of Itsekiri ethnic nation, Justice Mene, had earlier appreciated all for their presence.

Executive members at the state and ethnic level, elders, women and youths of HOSTCOM including Elder Okorodudu, Lube Oristuwa (DESOPADEC coordinator Warri South), Comrade Amalihi Stephen, chairman men & women Warri South, among others, graced the event.
Meantime the Delta State chapter of Host Communities of Nigeria Producing Oil and Gas (HOSTCOM) says it will vote as a group in order to become part of government's administration.

The state chairman, Snr. Evang Gabriel Isibeluo stated this on  Wednesday, Feburary 6 at the Isoko Unity Hall, Oleh, in isoko South council area of Delta state, during a town hall meeting organized to sensitize and mobilize people of HOSTCOM Isoko ethnic nationality in the 2019 general polls.

Evang Isibeluo while stressing that HOSTCOM  is not out to displace those holding political offices from power, explained that it (HOSTCOM), is only seeking the path that will bring benefits to those it represents, while urging the people to vote for the incumbent governor, Sen. (Dr.) Ifeanyi Okowa, the chairman noted that the group's call for his re-election was informed by his outstanding performance and swift response to the group's demands.

"For government, to listen to us, we have to come together. We don't want HOSTCOM to vote for nothing. Why do we need to vote as a group? So that at the time the next government will be formed, HOSTCOM will be part of the government".

Assuring that the group was not influenced to campaign for the governor, he added, "we are not paid to do what we are doing today. We are only doing it out of love and passion for what we stand to benefit as a group.

"The vision for the mobilization and sensitization of our indigenes is for us to be a block in government. We are not organizing this to chase out people in government, only for us to be part in it. And out ticket is our PVC," the HOSTCOM boss said, encouraging them to get their permanent voters' cards.

Reintroducing the various ethnic chairmen, Isibeluo told Isoko people that HOSTCOM has and will still take same message to other ethnic nations.

Also speaking, the national secretary of HOSTCOM , Dr. Peter Egedegbe, noted that Governor Okowa's identification with HOSTCOM is a first of its kind from any government, adding that it will bring more good for the group to support his re-election bid.

Mr Morrister Idibra, who was the Chief host, had earlier told the people that the meeting is to make them see ways that will move their communities forward.

In another development the Chairman Snr. Evangelist Gabriel Isibeluo at HOSTCOM's secretariat, Uti Road, Effurun, Uvwie council area, he informed the gathering that HOSTCOM will hold a joint rally otherwise called mega rally to sensitize and mobilize the people of the state to vote for the re-election of Gov. Okowa on March 2nd for his outstanding performance in the last Four Years.
He urged all the ethnic nationalities Chairmen in the state to ensure that all members of HOSTCOM attends the rally, noting that the joint rally will hold at the the Isoko Unity Hall, Oleh, Isoko South council area of the state, will have Governor Ifeanyi Okowa, as well as other candidates vying for various political offices, present.

Recall that the group on Monday, February 11 will conclude the on- going town hall meetings with the six ethnic oil and gas producing nationalities, Ijaw, Isoko, Itsekiri, Ika, Ndokwa and Urhobo, in the state.

Isibeluo stated that HOSTCOM intends to give support to other candidates who must tell them their agenda for the group.
He further urged members across the ethnic nations to come with their permanent voters' cards (PVC) to show readiness to deliver their choice governorship candidate, Sen. Okowa.
Governorship election;
Hostcom will give a block vote to Okowa says Isibeluo

The Delta state chairman of Host Communities of Nigeria (HOSTCOM), Evangelist Gabriel Isibeluo, has declared that the pressure group "will vote as a block", in the March 2 governorship elections.
The chairman while addressing a gathering of HOSTCOM Ndokwa Ethnic Nation in Kwale, Ndokwa West council area of Delta state, charged all to cast their vote for Governor Ifeanyi Okowa of the People's Democratic Party (PDP).
HOSTCOM officials in the state had on,January 30th , commenced a tour of all oil producing areas to sensitize and mobilize them people for the 2019 elections, noting that HOSTCOM is very "concerned" about the forthcoming polls, he pointed out that reelecting Sen. Okowa will ensure that oil bearing communities get what is due to them, in terms of development.
According to the Chairman, the governor has not only listened to its demands, but has accomplished "seven out of the nine items" HOSTCOM presented to him.
While reiterating the need for members to collect their permanent voters' cards (PVCs), Evang. Isibeluo noted that it is necessary for people of the oil and gas communities to take the elections seriously, as well as coming together as one.

"We have heard so much about the elections that are coming. We have passed the level of bags of salt and some money to our women. The first thing for us is to get is our PVCs "For us to have a voice, we have to vote as a block. It is very necessary for HOSTCOM women, youths, elders to take this issue seriously. Now, HOSTCOM wants to vote and also get appointments. I am saying what I am saying, not because I am a powerful man, but because I have all your backings "We need to be very united. Don't be intimidated. If results will be written, not for oil communities. Our votes will count. We want to deliver a governor that we all agree on. We are not going to share our votes. What will benefit HOSTCOM is what we need," Isibeluo told the people” he noted.
Those at the meeting were HOSTCOM's national secretary, state vice chairman, woman leader, Dr. Peter Egedegbe, Mr. Dele Mamu, Barr. (Mrs.) Omude Ochonogor-Ochibe respectively..

Others include ethnic chairmen, amongst who was Deacon Chris Nwose (Ndokwa). Then, traditional personalities from across Ndokwa clans, such as Chief Williams Wayer, Chief Franklin Ewyabege, Chief Flex Aghaoyibo, Chief Richard Mmor and Chief Austin Neme.

HOSTCOM urges Ika nation to vote for Okowa or wait for another 16 years.

The Host communities of Nigeria producing oil and gas (HOSTCOM), has tasked the people of Ika ethnic nationality to vote for Governor Ifeanyi Okowa of the People's Democratic Party (PDP), otherwise they should be ready to wait for another 16 years to vie for the gubernatorial seat in the state.
Speaking at a town hall meeting in Agbor, Ika South council area of Delta state, on February 4th, the chairman of Delta state chapter, Snr. (Evang.) Gabriel Isibeluo, noted that Delta Central and South districts of the state, respectively completed eight years in office, adding that it was ideal the governor, who is from their locality in Delta North, do same.
He explained that the town hall meeting was organised by HOSTCOM to sensitize and mobilise indigenes of oil bearing areas on the need to elect individuals who will listen to their cries and ensure human and infrastructural development when elected.
Isibeluo stressed that the decision of the pressure group to choose the governor as its candidate, stemmed from his (Okowa's) antecedents, adding that HOSTCOM stands for "equity and fairness".
Further enjoining the people to get their permanent voters' cards (PVCs), which he described as "our current power," not arms, the chairman stated the group's support for Sen. Okowa will bring benefits to all.
"We must change the way things are done. If you make the mistake to vote another person, you will wait another 16 years because Delta Central and Delta South have done eight years. You will start thinking of governorship 17yeras from now. The choice is yours.
"Okowa did not ask me to campaign for him. But what is good, is good. If anyone is to judge Okowa, it is HOSTCOM. You should take him for the next four years. Our coming to tell you this is to tell you we love you. In nine days time, we will take a decision on who will rule us in Nigeria. But on March 2nd, HOSTCOM will vote one candidate," Evang. Isibeluo stated.
On his part, HOSTCOM's national secretary, Dr. Peter Egedegbe, remarked on Governor Ifeanyi Okowa's developmental strides through his SMART Agenda, pointing out that his administration, if reelected, will do more for oil and gas host communities.
The assistant national woman leader, Mrs. Diana Ihwiwhu, urged the women to be on the alert, so as "not to be deceived."

Reminding them that the governor has promised to empower women of oil and gas bearing communities
through a micro-credit scheme, she charged them to vote wisely.
Responding, the Ezewen-Nwata of Aboro kingdom, Chief Odeh B. O., while assuring that Ika nation is "100% ready to support him for a second tenure" added that the governor has "spread his tentacles" across Delta state.
Meanwhile, Delta North chairman of physically challenged persons, Comrade Monday Ojeme, has urged HOSTCOM to intercede in its yearly faceoff with the Delta State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission (DESOPADEC).
Ojeme who spoke during the town hall meeting, wondered why the group has to apply lock up strategy when it needs something from the commission.
Stating that though disabled, their abilities are intact, he appealed that job opportunities be given to physically challenged persons from oil host communities in the DESOPADEC.
Present at the meeting, which had a large turn out, were other state executive members of HOSTCOM, ethnic chairmen, including the host, Comrade John Hillary.
Also present were representatives of some traditional rulers such as Chief Ojoh Anthony, rep. of HRM King Uche Irenuma, the Obi of Abowo Kingdom and Chief (Dr.) Lawrence Onyeru rep. of the Obi of Mibiri.

Supporting Okowa is HOSTCOM's Business - Isibeluo

...as Engr. Umukoro urges group's unity

The Host Communities of Nigeria Producing Oil and Gas (HOSTCOM), Delta state chapter, has said its business is to support Governor Ifeanyi Okowa, the gubernatorial candidate of the People's Democratic Party (PDP), in the elections to come.

HOSTCOM, through its state chairman, Snr. Evangelist Gabriel Isibeluo, noted that the works of the governor these past three and half years brought about the decision.

Speaking Monday, in Ughelli Kingdom Hall, Ughelli North council area of Delta state, at its town hall meeting with Urhobo ethnic nationality on the sensitization and mobilization of indigenes towards the forthcoming general elections, the chairman told the people to be weary of those who come with "sweet words" to ask for their votes.

According to him, Gov. Okowa made promises to the group and has fulfilled most of them, hence the need to throw their weights behind his bid to be re-elected.

He noted that if not for being docile, the group may have produced a commissioner or board member in the Delta State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission (DESOPADEC), in the current dispensation.

"If not for our mistakes, we would have produced some board members. Why did we become beggars? Because as a pressure group, after voting, we go to sleep. This time we say, no. Before we vote, we will invite the governor, we will tell him what we want and he will tell us his agenda for us.

"As a group, we want to move from being passive to an action group. We are going to vote one mind so that our demands also, will be granted. We have so many things this government has done for us. They gave us two SAs and six waterways appointments, but this time we want to graduate to producing commissioners.

"The business of HOSTCOM is supporting Okowa. We were not given money to campaign for Okowa. What is good is worth commending. We want people to who will give us promises and fulfill them.

"All these years, we cannot say we have enjoyed DESOPADEC, but when we produce one commissioner, the music will change. I know that is what we are about to achieve. On March 2nd, HOSTCOM will speak, men, women, youths, ethnic chairmen will speak. I know that when we do it, God will give us what we want," Isibeluo stated.

Remarking on the unity of the pressure group grâce à the intervention of the Oba of Benin, Oba Ewuare ll, he assured that the gas penalty revenue and surveillance jobs due to the people of oil and gas region will be achieved.

Also speaking, a patron to Urhobo HOSTCOM, Hon. (Engr.) James Umukoro encouraged the group to foster unity, just as he charged them to support the initiative of delivering the governor.

"One thing that destroys a group is disunity. Let's support our chairman, lets support the executive on this project. We have the strength, we won't  have what it takes to achieve. We must work together to deliver this project."

On her part, the woman leader, Urhobo ethnic nation Deaconess (Mrs.) Faith Okovwuri disclosed the women had resolved that the governor should continue till 2023.

Said she: "Okowa knows we need empowerment, micro credit and work for our children. We say he should go for second tenure.

"Appreciate" Okowa on peace, Urhobo Youths to Buhari

Meanwhile, the youth body of HOSTCOM Urhobo ethnic nationality has called on President Muhammadu Buhari to commend Delta state governor, Sen. Ifeanyi Okowa on the existing peace in the oil state.

The youths, through their leader, Comrade Sweet Otiotio, noted that it is no mere feat to govern a complex state without having conflicts.

Declaring their unwavering support for the governor, Otiotio urged him to remember the youths in when he returns to office.

"We call on President Buhari to appreciate the governor of Delta state, Sen. (Dr.) Ifeanyi Okowa. It is not easy to rule this state without problems from the oil sector, especially pipeline vandalism. We, the youths of Urhobo are solidly behind him. We also want him to have us in mind in terms of appointments and job opportunities," the youth leader said.

I Go Dye sort out raw talents to combat youth restiveness in Delta State

In his little contribution to checkmate youth restiveness in Delta State and create a platform for youths to harness their God-given talents, Ace comedian, Francis Agoda, popularly known as I Go Dye has launched a new project tagged ‘Sorting Out Raw Talents (SORT)’. This is part of his Francis Agoda Path of Honour (FAPOH) initiative which he unveiled a while ago where he staked 5 thousand dollars to challenge youths to come up with a video skit that would promote peace during the 2019 general elections with hashtag #Istandforpeace2019elections”.
Speaking on the ‘Sorting Out Raw Talents’ project, I Go Dye said, “Obviously at this point of our existence, selfless contributions that will create alternatives to engage the youths should be encouraged. We cannot continue to leave the responsibility of supporting the youths in the hands of government alone. In the past, programs like West Africa Idol, Project Fame and others have really helped our talented youths in Nigeria, making the winners who they are today. So, this requires the support of us all, because its objectives are aimed at eradicating youths restiveness, making them to become more resourceful and productive and we have the support of Delta State Government. We are looking at taking it across Niger Delta before we do SORT NINJA. Like they say, charity begins at home, that is why we are launching this project SORT today in Delta State.
Speaking further he reeled out the details of the project which according to him will begin on February 13, 2019 and end on February 27, 2019.
“The activation and auditioning will commence in Warri on the 13th of February at Wellington hotel from 9am to 5pm. Agbor will be next on 21st of February at City View Suite and Lounge, and the last auditioning will hold on 23rd of February 2019 at Nelrose Hotel Asaba while the grand event is on the 27th of February 2019 at the Dome Event Centre, Asaba. Project SORT will be looking out for talented youths across Delta State, it is expected to reach those in the grassroots and afford them a place to be heard and seen,” he said.
Continuing, he added, “Winners of the auditioning for each local government will become FAPOH Talents and Brain Ambassadors of their local government and he will be rewarded with the sum of 500 thousand naira which will qualify the winners to the grand finale. The star prize will be 2 million with a brand new car. Second prize and third are 1.5 million and 1 million respectively. Performing at the grand finale event will be veteran comedians like I Go Save, Gordons, Ay and I Go Dye himself. 2Baba and Harrysong will lead the ensemble of musicians that will perform at the event. It’s an opportunity to engage our teeming youths and hope that many Deltans and other well-meaning citizens of Nigeria would emulate this project by supporting.”
According to him, over the years there has been a decline in the growth level of entertainment in Delta State, because opportunities to harness the talents have not been adequate.
“I want to thank the state governor Arthur Ifeanyi Okowa for the partnership and support of this project as we strive to achieve the FAPOH set goals. I also thank 2face, Harrysong, I Go Save for their support. I want to call for individuals and corporate organizations to support this project, because this responsibility is not for FAPOH alone, it’s for all, it empowers the youths for the future,” he said.
I Go Dye is a UN Global Goals Ambassador, World Habitat Ambassador working to actualize the United Nations goals. In 2017 he won the Africa Child prize, making him an African Child Ambassador. He is also a UKAid/YAF goodwill Ambassador on Making A Difference Against Corruption Today (MADACT).

‘He calls himself a prophet, but he was sodomising my son’

Prophets are expected to be holy, solemn and trusted, but when you have strong suspicion that one, who is overseeing your church, is sodomising your son, hell is always going to let lose. This is the dilemma of Pastor (Mrs.) Precious Ukpe, Overseer, Soul’s Deliverance Church of God, Ogudu, Lagos, and the reason for accusations and counter accusations. Dorcas Egede reports.
When Pastor Precious Ukpe, the Overseer of Soul’s Deliverance Church of God, Ogudu, employed the services of a young prophet, Jeremiah Asuquo, little did she know that down the years, the gesture was to come with much more baggage.
Ukpe met young Pastor Asuquo when in 2016 she was in dire need of a competent hand to man the church her late husband founded. He was recommended by “Madam Alice,” Ukpe’s friend, who spoke loftily of this “young prophet from Ghana who is very good.”
Over the years, she had tried several pastors, but having been without one for a while, she quickly went after the young pastor, who was then resident pastor in another church, Land of Deliverance in Ogudu.
According to Pastor (Mrs.) Ukpe, “He worked with me for two years and six months” and everything went just right, with more people flocking into the church until mid-2018. And then, trouble set in. Things went awry and allegations and counter allegations ensued.
The beginning of the end
According to Ukpe, it all started, when she demanded that her 16-year-old son, Jeffrey (not real name), who had been staying with the prophet, returned home to her.
She recalled how in 2017, the prophet had prophesied “that I should bring my son to him, that God wanted him to take care of him as a father.”
She said she initially refused, saying he is her only child and couldn’t let him out of her sight; but November 2017 saw Ukpe releasing the boy. She claims, “he was with him till June 2018.”
Did she have any foreboding about releasing the boy? Ukpe’s answer was, “I didn’t notice anything that was not normal. I’d been hearing stuff about him, that he is gay, that he sleeps man to man, but I never saw him in that light.”
At a point, she confronted him on the rumour, “But he denied it. He told me he couldn’t do that, that he’s a virgin and had never slept with any woman in his life.”
“By January 2018, I asked him to release my son; that I didn’t want him to stay there again, that as my only son, I wanted him to be in the house with me. That was when the trouble started.”
Ukpe said the prophet was adamant.  “He told me he couldn’t release the boy, that he would rather leave the church. True to his word, when he returned the boy, he left and scattered the church. All the members left with him.”
Could she be trying to discredit the prophet because he left the church? “Truly, it may look that way, but my boy and this Paul have said everything at the police station where they wrote their statement. Even the petition was written by Alausa people, not me.”
How come the issue of defilement never came up until November 2018 when the prophet left the church?
“The boy didn’t tell me what was going on because the prophet threatened that he would die, if he told anyone.”
She said the boy finally opened up because he couldn’t bear the abnormal feeling in his body anymore, plus the frequent defecating. “He said the prophet slept with him through his anus, not once, not twice.”
She said the case was reported to the human rights department at Alausa and her boy was taken for examinations, where it was confirmed that his anus had been penetrated and is now expanded. “Not my boy alone, Paul too. Paul used to be a drummer in our church.”
Ukpe also revealed that the prophet has been begging her. “He has been begging me to forgive him. If he is innocent, he would not be begging me; he will be asking me to go anywhere, and that this is defamation of character.”
Jeffery’s story
According to Jeffrey, he moved to the prophet’s house late 2017. Asked how the whole sexual violations started, he said, “After I moved in with him, he was now giving me signs, but I told him I wasn’t interested. He told me he was going to leave the church if I didn’t agree. I still said no, and then he started issuing me death threats. You know he’s a prophet. He told me I was going to die, that’s how I succumbed.”
Why didn’t he leave and go home? “I didn’t leave because I wanted him to stay in the church. It’s difficult to get a good pastor and I thought he was a good one.”
Asked if he could describe the experience, the boy said, “It was not a good experience. There’s this jelly, KY jelly. It’s a lubricant for aiding V penetration. That’s what he used.”
About the pain and what he felt in his body, Jeffery said, “If you wear trousers for too long, there’s this heat you feel and that heat brings this kind of pain down that axis.” He revealed that when the police took him for medical checks, “they said I have genital warts.”
As a result, he said “I was always depressed and angry. We even used to fight in the house most times. It also affected my studies because I couldn’t focus. But now everything is better.”
Was it a daily affair? “It wasn’t every day. Any time he feels like.”

She’s only trying to destroy my career –Prophet

Prophet Jeremiah Asuquo, 25, is fondly called Prof by his older congregation and daddy by the younger ones. He is the founder of Arena of Solution International Church (ASIC), Ogudu, Lagos. This reporter decided to take him unawares by worshipping in his new church which he founded barely seven months ago.
Somehow he didn’t seem to be taken unawares, going by his first declaration: “Some of you, today might be your first time of coming here, some may be journalists, some may be press…, what matters is that God knows everything….”
After the three- hour service, the reporter requested to see the prophet. On hearing the reason for her visit, he said, “I wouldn’t have spoken without hearing from my lawyer but since you’re very polite and I was expecting you guys already….”
“The lady was my madam. I met her in 2016.” He began. “When I went to her church, they were only seven in number. I was serving under people at Ogudu here, she heard about me and said I should come and manage the church for her.”
Aside bringing numerical increase to the church, he said he also changed the outlook of the church. “Being a lover of music and God, I bought all the instruments in that church with my money, I’m even still left with a debt of N30,000. I have a picture of the church before and when I left. I bought wall papers, PCV; I changed everything in that church. We had over 500 members.”
On the allegation of abuse on the child, Asuquo said, “The said boy doesn’t live in my house, has never lived there. He used to come on weekends. I was staying with Inyang, Lovena, Blessing; these are all girls and two boys (Marvelous and Amos). These are the people I stayed with. They had girls and boys room, and I had my own room.”
Asuquo said the first time his former boss dragged him to the police station was on account of embezzling N5million from the church. “But they called an auditor, calculated the money and found out that I did not take a dime.”
She also accused him of assault and battery, adding that “We are still in court for that. This one about her son is a whole new allegation.”
Counting from May to November, he queried why it took his accuser so long to “come up with this accusation that I defiled her son? I left her church on the first Sunday in May, and the boy left my place the same day.”
Prophet Asuquo said Ukpe’s son came to sit for his WAEC examination in his area in Magboro, Ogun State, and that the idea for that came from her. “She brought the idea that the boys that stay with me used to write WAEC and pass. I bought everything for the boy; she just gave me N30,000 for registration. And the boy came, wrote his exams and went home to his mother. He didn’t live with me.
“He left my place after his exam, which was the same time I left the church. He stayed with his mother from that time till December. I didn’t hear anything. They have gone for check up. I said fine, what is your medical report? I have not seen it because I am not a lawyer. And you know police know their way of doing things.
“If it is true that I defiled this boy, let justice take its full course. But if it’s not true, let God that fights, fight them.” He said the boy in question is not a kid and if he was indeed being sexually abused, he could have left the place. “It is not as if I caged him in my house.”
When reminded of the threat of death, which the boy alleged, his response was, “Has the boy died now? This woman just wants to destroy my career. She told me she is going to deal with me. She said it countless times.”
He reiterated that this was “the first accusation (of being gay) that I’ve ever had in my life. I’m telling you the truth. You can do your investigation, I’ll give you the names of the churches I’ve pastored, Land of Deliverance in Ogudu here, Mount Zion Lighthouse Full Gospel Church, Shangisha, although the pastor is not around now.”
Does he plan on getting married anytime soon, this reporter wanted to know, as this would stem the tide of gay allegations?
“This year; I have a girlfriend. Marriage is not something you rush into.” He responded, and then he added rather emotionally, “What do I do with this woman? My heart is bleeding right now. These are the things that make people commit suicide.”
About the prophecy of the boy coming to stay with him, Asuquo said, “The person that gave the prophecy was Prophet, Doctor Uyotta Kingsley. He’s the owner of Christ City Church in Uyo. They are relatives. The prophecy came on a fateful Sunday service. He said, ‘Madam, allow this boy to be closer and stay with the prophet, so that through him, God can mould the boy.’ She now decided and said, in front of the congregation, ‘From today, take this boy as your brother.’ The prophecy was not from me.”
Has he ever been accused of being gay? “Never!” He said emphatically.  “Since I was born, never! It was since I started coming to this woman’s church… If I am a gay, my God is not mad; I have served Him since I was four…. Even in my house, you can come and do your investigation. I’ve stayed there four years, I’ve never visited a police station before. There’s no criminal record anywhere. My name has never been in any newspaper for any bad thing.”
Expatiating further, Asuquo said, “I left because this woman has issues: if I’m close to you and you give me things, she would do everything to get you off me. Through this, I have lost prominent men. After service, she’ll just start quarreling for no just reason. There is what we call structures in the church, but she doesn’t have such. She wants to control finance, everything. You try to put people in positions; she says no, it’s her church. She may have changed over, if I’m not mistaking, 20 pastors in that church since her husband passed on 10 years ago.”
Speaking on how he met Pastor Ukpe, the prophet said, “Through Madam Alice. Madam Alice is the mother of Amos, who has stayed with me for four years.”
Part of the allegations coming from Ukpe and her son is that Amos and Marvelous are Asuquo’s sex toys, but he countered, saying, “Marvelous has been with me for 10/11 years. He was my student in school. That boy left Calabar and came and stayed with me here in Lagos. And he has been in Lagos for two years.”
Amos and Marvelous
At this point, this reporter asked to speak with the boys, and promptly the prophet called out to them, “Amy! Mama!”
It wasn’t difficult to spot Amos and Marvelous at ASIC that Sunday. Amos was on the keyboard, while marvelous led the praise worship and was also the lead singer during the choir rendition.
Marvelous, 19, who fondly calls the prophet daddy, told the reporter that the prophet is his uncle. When asked if they’re related by blood, he said, “No. he taught me when I was in primary school in Calabar. He guided me when I was in secondary school. When he was my primary school teacher, he used to live close to my house. My parents knew him. I used to go to his house to assist him in washing clothes, cleaning the house and doing one thing or the other.
Asked if the prophet is gay, Marvelous response was a sharp, “No. I have stayed with him for about 11years now. If I have experienced such a thing, I wouldn’t have been close to him. I am a grown up person, I know what is good and bad.”
In further defence of his uncle, Marvelous said, “Ma, all these things these people are accusing him of, they ganged up to plan it because he left that woman’s church.”
He explained that he came to Lagos “to further my education because my uncle (the prophet) said he would assist me. I’m about to collect the JAMB form now. After that, I will collect the NDA form.”
But contrary to the prophet’s claim that some ladies live with them, Marvelous said, “We stay in a duplex, I, Amos and our uncle. Before, his mum was around and one sister Inyang used to stay with us then. They both left last year.”
About Jeffery, Marvelous said, “When we were still in the other church, Jeffery used to go home with us sometimes on Fridays and when we’re coming to church on Sundays, he would return home. It was when he wanted to write WAEC that he came to stay with us, because he registered at Magboro. He stayed about two months during the WAEC period.”
Asked if he had a girlfriend, Marvelous said, “I used to have one when I was in Calabar. But since I came to Lagos, I had to focus on my education, because women are kind of distraction.”
And then it was the turn of Amos. He walked into the room looking visibly unsettled, although he claimed he was okay. He is the son of Madam Alice, who introduced the prophet to Pastor Ukpe.
Interestingly, he didn’t know exactly how he is related to the prophet; he just assumed he is family.
On why he moved in with the prophet, even when his mom stays in Lagos, he said, “I want my life to be better.” Of course there was also the promise of sponsorship. But why isn’t he in school, even after nearly five years of living with the prophet?
His curt answer was “I’ll get into school this year. I’ve done my WAEC. I tried for admission last year, but it didn’t work because of the Post JAMB.”
And then this reporter asked about the prophet’s girlfriend. With a shocked expression, Amos, chuckled before saying, “I’ve not seen him with any girl. He has female friends, but I don’t know the one he wants to get married to. No lady comes to see us except for our friend (Amos’ and Marvelous’). Presently there’s no female staying with us; once we had Inyang and Blessing who stayed up to six months, but they both left last year.”
When confronted with the allegation that the prophet is gay, Amos’ reaction was a little aggressive. “Do you see him as gay? Probably the reason they’re saying that is because there was a time it was just the two of us living together.”
He revealed that they stayed together about a year, stressing though that they were always having visitors, including “Ma Ukpe’s son.”
Asked if there was ever a prophecy that the prophet should take Jeffery as his son; Amos said, “the prophecy was given by one man, Uyotta. The man is related to Jeffery’s father. The man spoke to Ma Ukpe, and she agreed.”
Does Amos’ have a girlfriend? “No. I don’t want to have. My future is more important to me,” was his reply.
Back to the prophet, he reiterated his belief that the accusation was borne out of envy that his present church is doing well.
Pastor Godwin
This reporter also sought out Pastor Godwin, who is the founder of Land of Deliverance, Ogudu, where Prophet Asuquo ministered before he went to Ukpe’s church. Godwin however wondered why the whole allegation is coming out now that Asuquo has left the church.
“I don’t know much about him being gay, because when he was with me, nobody accused him of such and I did not hear any such rumour about him. But if the prophet was sleeping with her son for a long time, why didn’t she come up until he left her church. Could it be that all this is coming out because he left her church?”
Asked if his church also experienced numerical growth when the Asuquo was with him? Godwin said, “Yes. He’s the kind of person that once he enters your church, the whole place will be filled up.”
Pastor Timothy Etukudoh
Resident pastor, Timothy Etukudoh of Mount Zion Lighthouse Full Gospel Church inc., Shangisha, where the prophet was said to have pastored before moving to Land of Deliverance in Ogudu, however denied knowing  Asuquo. “First of all, we don’t employ people to work in the church, except the ministers. We don’t employ prophets in the church. We only have members that worship in the church, who can prophesy…. Besides, I have come across many prophets, so, I wouldn’t know who you are talking about.”

When confronted with the story making the rounds that he once sent away a prophet because he was gay, Etukudoh’s reply was rather curt. “I’m not a medical doctor, how will I get to know when somebody is gay? Except one is caught in the act, madam, we cannot establish a prima facie case.”

NNPC pursuing more domestic gas output - GMD Baru ...commissions $60M gas plant in Delta

By Elo Edremoda

The Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC), says it is doing all possible to increase domestic gas output in the country.

The Group Managing Director, Dr. Maikanti Baru, stated this when he commissioned the Egbaoma Gas Processing Plant (EGPP), being operated by PNG Gas Limited in Ebedei, Ukwani council area of Delta state, Thursday, February 7.

Dr. Baru also reassured that works are underway to ensure the commercialization and end of gas flare in Nigeria.

According to him, the NNPC  hopes to increase domestic gas supply capacity from the current "1.7bscfd to 5bscfd in the medium term."

Calling on gas operators whose assets are close to the newly commissioned facility to make gas available in order to maximize the the processing plant's capacity, he revealed that plans are ongoing to expand the gas pipeline infrastructure.

"The expansion includes the Obiafu-Obrikom to Oben (OB3) gas pipeline which is less than 5km to Egbaoma Gas Plant and can serve as a major evacuation artery of the dry gas produced from this plant to the market.

"I also use this medium to assure Deltans and Nigerians that the journey to effective monetization of our vast gas resources for sustainable economic growth and complete end to gas faring is underway and the future is bright," the NNPC GMD stated.

Earlier, the chairman of Owel-Linkso group, Engineer Charles Osezua, who is the director of PNG Gas Limited urged the NNPC to facilitate a collaboration between gas producers and gas processing plants.

Engineer Osezua said this will enable the objectives of the gas industry to be achieved.

He said, "all these producers are your partners. Use your office to bring us together to do what is best in our country, instead of duplicity of plants.

"NNPC should midwife, create the environment to make it possible for the likes of us to invest, so that the objectives of the gas sector can be achieved for the benefits of our country," Osezua stated.

The EGPP started operations in 2016, have since then produced an estimated 34 million liters of cooking gas, serves about 500 homes, with 80% across the Niger Delta region.

The plant which is wholly indigenous and the first to materialize as such, consumed about $60 million to ensure its establishment and also, directly or indirectly, benefits at least 500 persons.

Traditional ruler impregnates 13-year-old groundnut seller

A 69-year-old traditional ruler in Obiaruku community, Ukwuani local government area of Delta State, Chief Festus Akinima, has allegedly impregnated a 13-year-old groundnut seller, Miss Ijeoma Ishima, after allegedly luring her with gifts and huge sums of money.
Police Public Relations Officer in the state, PPRO, DSP Andrew Aniamaka, who confirmed this to journalists at the weekend in Asaba, disclosed that the little girl was put in the family way through the action of Chief Festus Akinima, a traditional ruler in the Community, adding that the pregnancy was blown open when it was five months old.
He said: “Little Miss Ijeoma Ishima, a 13 year old groundnut seller and JSS I student in one of the secondary schools in Obiaruku community was a victim of child abuse, one of the gravest ills at present in Nigeria. As a child from poor background, Ijeoma Ishima hawks groundnut everyday as soon as she returns from school.
“It was unfortunateCcircumstance of little Ijeoma’s life that the traditional ruler took undue advantage of her, and lured her into unwholesome sexual intercourse on several occasions and she got pregnant, and the pregnancy was five months before it was discovered by Ijeoma’s mother”.
Aniamaka explained that Ijeoma’s ordeal started sometime in July 2018, while walking across the compound of Chief Festus Akinima Idele at Wire road , Obiaruku community, and after patronizing her on her first day of meeting with her, Chief Festus Akinima developed interest and lust in her, telling her to always come to sell to him at home everyday because he loves eating groundnut.
Speaking with newsmen in the area, Ijeoma’s mother, Mrs Stella Ishima said: “When I noticed all the signs of pregnancy in my daughter, I questioned her and she admitted she was pregnant for Chief Festus Akinima, and that she has been having long sessions of unprotected sexual intercourse with him, I shouted and my husband heard me, came out of his room with a cultlass running towards his house when people stopped him on the way, and pleaded with him.

“We later informed the Police in Obiaruku who arrested him and detained him before he was granted bail few days after. Chief Festus Akinima agreed at the station to take Ijeoma for a wife and train her.”

I was deceived, Oby Ezekwesili breaks silence on pulling out of the presidential race

Former Minister of Education, Oby Ezekwesili has blamed her decision to run for presidency on the platform of her now estranged party, the Allied Congress Party of Nigeria, ACPN, on an error of judgement on her part.
Ezekwesili, who announced her withdrawal from the presidential race, last week, stated this on Monday at a world press conference in Abuja.
According to her, she fell for the ‘tricks’ of the ACPN leadership when they approached her to run for presidency on their platform because they created an impression that the party believed in her disapproval of the transactional money-grabbing politics of the PDP and APC which has held the country back since Independence.
She said: “When the ACPN leadership approached me in a series of visits to appeal that I run for office on their platform, the party appeared to be a good fit. It was founded by some disgruntled PDP members some years ago, but when its prime founder decided to return to the PDP, a core of its membership refused to move back with him. I was told that they stayed back because of their opposition to the ways of the PDP. Considering my vocal disapproval of the PDP and the APC, I admired the ACPN’s decision to stand firm and refusal to be co-opted.
“Also, the party came fourth in the popular votes count for the 2015 elections. So this was not exactly a mushroom party.
“We held several meetings before I chose to run on the ACPN platform, and in each of those meetings, I was clear to all that if the target w

as the same transactional money-grabbing politics that has held us back, I would never go along with it. My public stance that the nomination form for Presidency should not be above N100,000 was acceded to by the Party while they pressed me to join their fold.
I also privately and publicly during the convention that adopted me as their presidential candidate disclosed that there was no personal war-chest for politics available to me and called on the Party to get ready for all of us to disrupt the traditional way of campaigning by the dominant parties. You may have seen some of the videos from those early meetings. You would notice that they repeatedly assured me that we shared common values and principles. We shook hands and made it formal.
“I knew that along the way I will face tests of my values, but I didn’t expect it so soon and not from the party members who had assured me privately and publicly that they were on the same page with me.
In truth, our values were poles apart. The ACPN leadership demonstrated in deeds that they did not believe in my advocacy for a cleaner politics. They were not really interested in being a vehicle to break the bad politics championed by the #APCPDP. In fact, the ACPN leadership began to act like a junior sibling to the twin #APCPDP party.
“At one point, we were supposed to have a meeting with all the state coordinators of the party. Instead of the ACPN leadership to be honest about the strengths of the party and explain that some states did not have coordinators at the time, they hired fake coordinators, and asked the campaign to fly them into Abuja. You all saw how they demonstrated their preferred brand of politics last week by endorsing the ruling APC in a classic summersault. Deceptive politics of transactions at its worst!
“Their actions last week did not surprise me one bit. My relationship with the ACPN became problematic once they faced the reality of my modest financial means that I had transparently disclosed to them from the beginning. Their mistake was that they harbored two wrong assumptions about me.
“First, they assumed that I was one of those who served in government and had a stash of looted public funds hidden somewhere to expend on the elections. When they realized that was not the case, they made a second wrong assumption by believing that I would be willing to go and obtain foreign cash to prosecute my Campaign”
The leadership of the Party became frustrated that I was not using my global network to get some countries, organizations and foreigners to donate money to their Party like the APC and PDP do. The more I told them that I was committed to abide strictly to the provisions of the Electoral Act and INEC rules on campaign finance and was not going to negotiate that in order to satisfy their monetary demands, the more frustrated they became.
“In all these, the options before me were clear. I could give in to the ACPN’s desperation and use any means necessary to satisfy those fellows or I could uphold my values and leave their fold. I could succumb to their pressure, pretend as though I did not see how utterly corrupt their ransom demands were and continue with the campaign or I could step up at great personal cost to myself, and say ENOUGH.
“Immediately I expressed my options in those clear terms, the choice was easy. I cannot do anything that contradicts my eternal values. For someone who was running for office with a promise to fix our politics, getting mired in the mud of transactional anti-people politics would have represented a quick fall. God forbid! I had to live my values; I had to follow my truth. And I am proud I did.
“The only thing I now owe the ACPN is a total and immediate separation from their camp. I have earlier today returned my ACPN membership card, party flag and other paraphernalia in order to signpost my complete separation.”

On INEC’s position on her withdrawal from the presidential race, Ezekwesili said: “I acknowledge INEC’s position on the withdrawal of my candidacy. Based on the Electoral Act, the time has elapsed for withdrawal so the law still sees me as a presidential candidate. However, I have suspended my campaign and INEC’s position on my candidacy will have little effect. I will work hard to ensure that those who would have voted for me, cast their votes instead for the consensus candidate who will hopefully emerge from the coalition of willing credible alternatives in the coming days. My lawyers have officially written to INEC in a symbolic gesture to make them aware of my separation from ACPN.”
