By: Kelvin Ohoror

The Isoko Ethnic Nationality has lost out in the recent Federal Government Youths Empowerment Programme N-Power.

This was made known by Dr. (Mrs.) Shemite Bello the executive Secretary, Delta State Agency of Medium, Small and Medium  Enterprises Develo pment on the occasion of the 17th annual general meeting/ 25th anniversary of IC Global Micro Finance Bank held at the Anglican Women’s Hall opposite Delsu, Oleh Campus, Delta State.

According to Dr. (Mrs.) Shemite Bello “The Federal Government Youths Empowerment Programme N-power were able to reach out to the Local Government Level, we selected people’s , CAN, NGO’s, Traditional Rulers and Stake holders in all the 25 Local Government in the State  and I told them if you love your community go and gather the Youths, and let them know  of the  Bus programme and all the various programme the Federal Government is embarking on’’.

The Executive Secretary , Delta State Agency of Medium, Small and Medium Enterprises Development who represented the Delta State Gonernor Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa also noted that, “We got the highest  number from Uvwie Local Government and the next highest was Udu Local Government. What was Isoko North and Isoko South doing at the time people were applying?’’. She lamented.

Dr. (Mrs) Shemite  Bello further asserted that, “ We have short listed 8,421 Youths that will been paid N 30,000 every month while they are training them for the programme their first payment will come this month of December. It is Money to sustain themselves’’.

The failure of low registration for this various programme from Isoko South and North could it be attributed of the Stakeholders in the area who were called and intimated about the programmes, but failed to gather their people and inform them?

What was the role of the two Local Government Council Chairmen in Isoko South and North, the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) Isoko Chapter,Traditional Rulers and the various NGO’s in the areas?

Dr. Shemite  further stated “Some of the Youths are very active online, Twitter, instagram, Facebook, yet some of them are still complaining, it look very annoying. On that same online, that the European Union (EU) is giving 187 million pounds for innovation in Green Technology. Instead of going online to abuses themselves and send pictures that does not glorified anything, they should go online and look for what is ready available for them’’.

In another development, Dr. (Mrs) Shemite said that the Delta State Government got an order from the UK for the State to supply palm oil, yellow garri and white garri as well as plantain flour. If you have this product register yourself through the office of the Job creation Delta State.

The order came two weeks  ago, we want people who have warehouses who can store the products and supply it. The people who want the products in UK will give you the specification on how they want the products done. when we get the specification we will train you for Government on how to achieve that aspect ‘’.

She also reiterate that “For those who want to go into this business, there is ready market and they are ready to pay cash at profit margin. The State Government is ready to work with you, but we want to see track records there is nothing like small business’’. She said.
