"The recession has also affected our ability to address the welfare of journalists in the state effectively through adverts, l hope that the economy will improve, so that we can patronise you more"
He expressed his joy on the peace and harmony existing among the publishers saying “The harmony that now exists among you (publishers) is a welcome development; you can now speak with one voice and work in unity for the progress of this forum."
ln a brief remark, the Executive Assistant to the Governor on Orientation, Barrister Eugene Uzum, charged the publishers not to relent in doing their job as they are the conscience of the grassroots and that the government appreciates the good work they are doing " The synergy we have with you today will go a long way in communicating government progranmmes and policies more to the grassroots”

In a welcome address, the Chairman Community Newspaper Publishers, Prince Orhomonokpaye, said their mission was to solicit for patronage from the government through advertisements and improved welfare package " we have always supported this administration, we have projected the policies and programmes of government to the grass roots and need to benefit from government."

Fayose to Buhari:'You were not elected to function as “Friday President”
By Ridwan Adeniyi

Ekiti State Governor, Mr Ayodele Fayose has said that Nigerians did not elect General Muhammadu Buhari to function as “Friday President”, adding that he (Buhari) was now acting more like a ceremonial and
part-time President.
The Governor, said he was glad that his constructive criticism was getting to the President and his handlers, noted that it was not enough for the President of a country like Nigeria to be seen in public only while attending Friday Jumat service at the Presidential Villa, videos of his activities should be made public too.
Speaking on 23/04/2017 through his Special Assistant on Public Communications and New Media, Lere Olayinka, the governor said it was necessary for Nigerians to be properly informed about the well-being
of their president.
He accused some close allies of the President of deliberately shielding him and preventing him from attending to his health so as to continue to run the government on the basis of “Mr President has directed” even when the President did not direct anything.
“That’s why Nigerians are told every day that the President said this and that with the President neither speaking directly nor attending any official function. This is not good for the image of a country like Nigeria that is struggling to get out of economic recession,” the governor said.
Governor Fayose, who said by virtue of the his old age, the President could be susceptible to illness, advised that “President Buhari should rather be allowed to take proper care of his health while the Vice
President, Prof Yemi Osinbajo acts constitutionally as the president.
“However, it is doubtful if those cabals that are obviously running their own Presidency within President Buhari’s Presidency will allow him to take a long vacation, probably outside Nigeria to take care of
himself.”
The governor insisted that Nigerians must hear the voice of their President and see him physically, not through surrogates or the cabal operating behind the scene.
“It is only when the President is seen and heard physically that Nigerians will believe that they are not being ruled by a part-time and ceremonial president, whose powers are being exercised on his

behalf by some cabal,” he said.

By Kelvin Ohoror

The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of FONE Media Integrated Company/Publisher of Isoko Mirror Newspaper comrade Felida Osede Essi in her address affirmed that, this programme is the 5th edition of Heroes/Heroines of Development Awards, an occasion for bestowment of honours to those who sincerely deserved these honours and to also celebrate Isoko Mirror newspaper 12th year on the newsstand.
Comrade Essi Further stated that the last time when the 4th Edition of this programme was held at Shell Road, Warri on July 14 2012, A book titled “Historical Facts on the Isoko People and Communities” was presented. “Today another book titled; “Motivational Capsules”, is ready for presentation, stressing that the book will enhance the thinking of our people to move Isoko forward.
She therefore called on the senior citizens of the Isoko Nation to come together and speak with one voice not minding their political divide so that Isoko as a Nation can get its rightful place.
She pointed out that, the Isoko Heroes/Heroines of development award is aimed towards encouraging people who have immensely made contributions to the development of societies not to rest in their oars to do more.
The recipients of the awards are; Alhaji Abdusalam Paxman Ekpuze, Mr. Julius Omokioja Eto, Hon. (Chief) Raphael Egaga Okaruefe, Dr. (Mrs.) Elizabeth Oghenekome Agbada, Opa Williams, Prof. Sam Aghalino, Princess Oghale Oweh, High (Chief) Iduh Amadhe, Barr. Afahokor Akpovienehe Duncan, Dr. (Mrs) Janet Ofo Phd, Chief Ighodheme, Powerlee amongst others.

Earlier in a lecture delivered at the event themed: “Preserving our language for posterity Isoko as a focus”, the keynote speaker Dr. (Mrs.) Elizabeth Oghenekome Agbada stated that language is an embodiment of a people, distillation and codification of human value. She pointed out that a meaningful contemplation of existence is impossible without bringing language into the picture, but stressing that there are factors militating against the survival of the language, which are; negative attitude of the people, lack of patriotism and lack of government support for the minority languages.
Dr. (Mrs.) Agbada further emphasized that, an average Isoko man sees Isoko language as a language that cannot be used to contribute meaningfully to modernity, globalization, politically, economically, technologically and scientifically. As a result the language is being treated with disrespect and neglect; the implication of this is language endangerment and its eventual death or extinction.
The erudite scholar who frowned at the behavioral attitude of the Isoko people noted that “The average Isoko man/woman does not see any need of spending his/her money on anything that has to do with the Isoko language. “The Language needs to be documented and to be taught in primary and junior secondary schools to enable the upcoming ones to read and write it” to achieve this, teachers need to be recruited for this exercise”. She noted
She further asserted that, “As the owners of the Isoko language we should do something to preserve it by documenting the language, teaching it in schools from primary to tertiary Institutions and the negative attitude of our people towards the language must change, that will enable us preserve language”. She said.

MYSTERIES OF BABYLON AND NEBUCHADNEZZAR’S DREAM INTERPRETED BY DANIEL IN THE BIBLE
By Alhaji Abdulsalam Paxman Ekpuze

“Indecision is the true sign of instability, Real Peace Advocate are known when meaningful decision are needed.

In 604 BC – Daniel explained to Nebuchadnezzar that in his dream he had seen a giant statue representing four successive empires that would rule the earth before a stone representing the Kingdom of God struck the statue and destroy it. (Daniel 2:1–49).

By 29AD Jesus Christ stated his ministry to proclaim the good news of the kingdom of God (Luke 4 V 44) and commanded His followers to pray for the kingdom of God to come on earth (Matthew 6 V 10) and by 610AD Prophet Muhammad stated His ministry proclaiming that he is a mercy to all people (Quran 21 V 108) and that God has completed His favour to mankind and has perfected religion in Islam (Quran 5 V 4).

History has it that Jesus Christ (5BC – 33AD) and Prophet Muhammad (570 – 632AD) were born and lived on earth during the fourth Empire i.e. the Roman Empire.

The influence of these two great personalities Jesus & Muhammad on earth cannot be underestimated but unfortunately their followers have become competitive instead of cooperative in promoting the Kingdom of God with Peace and Security on earth in tire with Daniel explanation.

Freedom of religious practices is approved by God, but this freedom must be looked into seriously. Much of the rampant restiveness in homes and communities has their genesis in religious centers due to false teachings’.

Peace Advocates who are religious leaders too have much work to do in saving mankind out of the hands of these ‘new-age Pentecostalism insatiable prophets’ by promoting Radio and Television programs for intra/inter religious dialogue to educate the public correctly and save humanity from its present predicament..

God Created Herbs for Healing Says –Itimi

Recently at Ijaniki area of Lagos State, the Medical director of Oscar Trado-Medical Clinic, Dr. Oscar Itimi in an encounter with the Deputy General Editor of Isoko Mirror discussed the efficacy of the traditional medicine.
According to him, while explaining the importance of herbs, noted that although, people are always skeptic about the effectiveness of herbs, they also forget that even the orthodox medicines are produced from herbs depending on the application.
He stressed that with the kind of training being received now through the academy established by Lagos State in conjunction with Trado Medical practitioners has improved the usage of herbs tremendously.
“Today as I speak with you, I am a Christian Colonel (Prayer Warrior) in Cherubim and Seraphim Church, Fogo Olorunhan, Badagry branch. You will agree with me that there is nowhere the Bible condemns the usage of herbs, rather, it encourage us to apply these herbs because they are created for mankind” he said
Dr. Oscar who was confident, supported his argument with the following scriptures verses like: Psalm 104:14-17, Genesis 1: 29-30 and Revelation 22:2

“If you go through this verse of the Bible you will understand what I am talking about because being a Trado-Medical practitioner does not mean you are an idol worshipper” he said.

Despite Appeal for Help, Tony Grey Still Abandoned By Government, NGOs

 By Gab Ejuwa

Despite several appeal on local tabloids, national dailies and social media by the family of ailing veteran musician, Tony Grey for the Delta state government, corporate organizations, non-governmental organizations and well to do individuals to help them with N10 million for medical treatment of Tony Grey abroad, none has come to the help of the family. Although an NGO, Onuesoke Foundation in conjunction with a group under the aegis of Friends of Tony Grey in the United States of America recently donated N512,000 for his treatment. The groups led by a PDP chieftain, Sunny Onuesoke, appealed to corporate organizations, Delta State government, institutions, non-governmental organizations and well to do Nigerians to contribute generously towards saving the life of the ‘Come Back Love’ evergreen crooner. Tony Grey has been lying critically ill for months now and need funds for necessary medical attention abroad after being diagnosed of prostate cancer and diabetes. Earlier this year, Tony Grey’s family had appealed to Nigerians to assist them in order to bring back the living legend to his full state of health. The family stated that living a happy life of contentment was their greatest plan until Tony Grey fell sick and everything changed. Their life and that of Tony Grey have been under the mercy of God and the little savings they had have all been exhausted in paying hospital bills. Up till this moment they have not gotten any help from members of the Performing Musician Association of Nigeria PMAN despite the fact that Tony Grey was the founder of the Delta state chapter of the PMAN. When contacted, Mac Dee, a well known musician in Warri and its environs frowned at the attitude of the state government in not responding to the plight of those who have helped the country and state with their career. He said, “I am surprised that up till this moment, the Delta state government has not deemed it fit to help the ailing musical maestro. Is it only when he has died that they will start extolling his virtues? he queried. He revealed that he is aware that members of the PMAN Delta state chapter are making plans to help the family with reasonable amount of money to offset Tony Grey’s medical bills. When contacted, the Delta state PMAN Governor, Quincy Tebite, said “as the PMAN Governor I have visited him and also gave my little assistance, when I returned, I summoned a meeting and we resolved to meet the state governor, Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa for assistance because we don’t have enough  to take care of the required medical bills”. “Since I resumed office as the PMAN Governor in the state, there have been some persons fighting me to see that PMAN does not move forward in my time, the younger brother to Tony Grey is inclusive. As I speak with you, we are in court because they have been going round spoiling the minds of the people that my tenure is over and that I have been removed from office whereas nothing of such existed because I was the one who went for the recent delegate conference. “Recently, the state executive resolved that we should go round the zones to speak the truth to them to understand what is on ground, so that we can have a transparent government because some persons who are aligning with Tony Grey’s brother have spoilt the mind of some members. We have been embarking on this move in order to have one house and take a better decision on what we can do as its time to unite for the sake of Tony Grey, “We want to organize a fund raising concert to raise money for him. As you know, PMAN is not a one man affair; it is an organization of many people. One thing is to sensitize them first, so we have gone to Isoko and Agbor, next week will be at Ndokwa. What we are doing now is a sensitization tour to reunite the house before we will organize the concert. “I know it is God that has been sustaining Tony Grey, and I know the same God will sustain him till when help will come to him soonest. I have written several letters to the Governor to help Tony Grey because he has paid his price for the state with his music. Even during the Owhorode of Olomu’s 100 years birthday and anniversary I met with the governor on the issue but we have not received any help from him. We are not silent over the issue at all. Tony Grey whose music tracks ‘she is my love’ ‘my message’ and ‘come back love’ were everyone’s delight in the 70s and 80s was born over 60 years ago and needs about N10 million for the treatment of prostate cancer abroad . Mr. Grey hails from Aboh town in Ndokwa East Local Government Area of Delta State but presently resides at Cruz Land, Marine Quarters, Warri in Warri South Local Government Area of Delta state. Grey is presently been taken care of by his family and one or two friends at his residence in Warri after he was recommended to be flown abroad for proper medical attention because he was diagnosed of prostate cancer and diabetes. Grey popularly known as Ozimba of Africa has been ill for over eight months and is currently bedridden at his Cruz Land, Marine Quarters, Warri, Delta state and has lost a lot of weight. A family source told our correspondent that his father was diagnosed of diabetes but the major ailment was prostate cancer that has to do with the reproductive system. The source stated further that his father has been admitted for over five months at a private hospital in Warri and several operations were carried out on him until it was recently confirmed that he was suffering from prostate cancer.

Teachers' Death: NUJ Faults Delta Govt. on Salaries, Arrears Payments
 By Elo Edremoda

Following the death of three secondary school principals and a vice principal in a ghastly auto-crash last Friday, the Nigerian Union of Journalists, Warri Correspondents' Chapel has described as "callous" the management of workers welfare by the Delta state government.

Commiserating with the Delta State Chapter of the Nigerian Union of Teachers (NUT), the All Nigeria Conference of Principals of Secondary Schools, as well as the students of schools where the  four victims served, the union, in a statement signed by its chairman and secretary, Comrades Akpokona Omafuaire and Joe Ogbodu, noted the nonchalant attitude of the Governor Ifeanyi Okowa administration towards payment of workers salaries and arrears.

It will be recalled that the deceased four were en route Kwale to honour an invitation by the Commissioner for Basic and Secondary Education, Mr Chinedu Ebie.

According to reports, the meeting was part of processes to resolve the strike action by the NUT.

Further expressing condolence to the teachers' families, the statement faulted the intimidation tactics by the state government to quell the labour dispute, citing the contradiction to its "prosperity for all Deltans" slogan.

"If the state government had not foreclose the immediate negotiation with the protesting teachers, the death would possibly not have occurred painfully the way it did.

"The Union therefore call on Governor Ifeanyi Okowa-led government to wake up to its responsibility and stop passing buck when the responsibility to take care of citizens' welfare actually stops at the state Governor's deck.

"The threat position taken by the government was an awkward and outdated manner of resolving labour dispute by a government which purports to give prosperity to all Deltans," the statement said.
nts on the practical issue of investment as well as exploring the need to industrialize Isoko and position Isoko as the next economic and investment hub.

The imperativeness for endowed Isoko personalities/ elites, and business men to invest more in Isoko was also highlighted at the event.
