Ondo kidnapper who took tramadol dies after sleeping for 9 days

The Ondo State Police Command has announced the death of an alleged kidnapper arrested in Owo town, from complications arising from high intake of Tramadol.
The alleged kidnapper had been unconscious since his arrest on August 5 at a chemist in Owo.
Femi Joseph, spokesman of the Ondo State Police Command who confirmed the news to Newsmen via the phone, said the culprit died on Monday.
Joseph said that the suspect, whose real name was not identified before he died, gave up nine days after his arrest by the Police.
"Yes, it's true and I have just spoken on his death; he died on Monday evening at the General Hospital in Owo,” he said.
"We are very sure it is a result of the overdose in the capsule of the drug (Tramadol 400MG) that he took. Unfortunately, we could not locate his people nor his real name as all the effort made to revive him failed. Investigation is still going on towards arresting his other accomplices in the failed kidnap attempt.”
Newsmen had reported last week how the suspected kidnapper and his gang stormed a Pharmacy store in Owo with the plan of stealing and also kidnapping the pharmacist.
It was gathered that upon sighting the kidnappers with arms, the owner of the store, Chinery Pharmacy, escaped through the exit door.
The suspects later snatched a Bajaj motorcycle from one Daodu Wale who had visited pharmaceutical store to get some drugs for his sick wife.
Although one of the kidnappers fell off the bike and was arrested by the Police, his other two gang members escaped arrest.
A cut-to-size locally-made gun and 400MG of Tramadol were recovered from the suspect. But he slipped into coma since his arrest, until his death on Monday.
