ASSAULT ON JOURNALIST: COURT ADJOURNS NUJ’S SUIT AGAINST CUSTOMS TILL JAN 12, 2017


Justice AbdulAziz Anka of the Federal High Court, Ikoyi Lagos has fixed January 12, 2017 for accelerated hearing, on the 500 million naira suit filed by the Nigeria Union of Journalists, NUJ against Nigeria Customs Service over the brutal assault of Badagry based Journalist, Yomi Olomofe, in the premises of the Seme Area Command of the Nigerian Customs service on Thursday June 25, 2015.

In a ruling on an application to re-list the fundamental human rights suit filed against the Comptroller General of the Nigerian Customs, Comptroller Garba M. Ndalati, Deputy Comptroller Emmanuel Nkemdirim, Assistant Comptroller Ibrahim Nuru Turaki and leaders of a notorious border smuggling cabal allegedly led by one SULEIMON MOMOH, Sam Madubuike and two others by the NUJ, Justice Anka directed that ‘the suit must be given accelerated hearing from the next adjourned date on January 12, 2017.

Ndume, Melaye in near fisticuffs as Senate rejects Magu’s nomination


Nigerian Senate on Thursday 15th declined to confirm the appointment of Ibrahim Magu as the substantive Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

President Muhammadu Buhari, had in November 2015, appointed Magu as the Chief of the Anti-Graft Agency in acting capacity.

The rejection by Senate which was anchored on unfavourable security report from the Secret Police, DSS, followed w eeks of postponement of the screening of Mr. Magu.

Meanwhile, Senate Leader Ali Ndume and the vocal chairman of the committee of FCT, Senator Dino Melaye, created a scene as they came close to fisticuffs in the office of the Senate President, Bukola Saraki.

While Ndume, who is from the same Borno state like Mr. Magu favoured his confirmation, Melaye, a close ally of the Senate President opposed it.

An Assistant Commissioner of Police, Mr Magu, replaced former EFCC boss, Ibrahim Lamorde.

It will be recall that President Buhari, in a letter to the Senate in July 2016, sought confirmation of Mr. Magu alongside Mr. Ndasule Moses, Lawan Mamman, Galadanci Imam, and Adeleke Rafiu as members of the commission.

Constituents Rejects Tim Owhefere as they berated misrepresentation

Isoko North (Owhe Ward 1) of the People Democratic Party has disassociate themselves from the majority leader of the Delta State House of Assembly Hon. Tim Owhefere over his negligence of duty to the people of Owhe ward 1 and misrepresentation of the ward people.

In a meeting which was held at the residence of former secretary to the Delta State Government Sir, Simeon Efemudu was well attended by the ward executive youths, men, women and leaders from the ward as well as all party faithfuls from all nooks and crannies of the ward, were they all disown the majority leader over his nonchalant attitude.

Speaking during the meeting, Sir, Simeon Efenudu and Chief Edward Orowhorua who spoke on behalf of the Owhe ward 1 elders they condemned the attitude of the majority leader for not showing appreciation to the ward people after the 2015 general election.

According to them; “After the 2015 election, he has not come to show appreciation to us for voting him into power. People are benefiting from those they elected 
into positions in others various wards across Isoko land but we have not seen that in this our ward” they also noted that, “since 12 years now that he has represented us in the State House of Assembly, we have not enjoy dividend of democracy to be what we benefited for our struggles over the years”.

While Mr. Akpobome Gabriel and Mr. Henryman Okoro who spoke on behalf of the ward lamented absence of governmental political appointment in the ward for the past 12 years, stating that all we have benefited in the struggles in the past 12 years are his and unfulfilled promises”.



Similarly, Oghenekaro Esehor and Esejabor Esther, they all enumerated various unfulfilled promises which the majority leader made to them in the past, nothing that, “the only leaders we had benefited dividends of democracy from in the constituency in the past 12 years are Hon. Leo Ogor and immediate past SSG Comrade Ovuzuorie Macaulay who are not from this ward” they lamented how the majority leader have misrepresented them and urged the State Governor, Sen. Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa to carry his own cross come 2019 and leave the majority leaders cross which will create problem for him if not left out they also vowed to key behind Hon. Leo Ogor and Comrade Ovuzuorie Macaulay promising that, “whatever they bring for us to represent us in the state House of Assembly come 2019, we will vote for him”. 

Meanwhile Hon. Daniel furthermore on his part, urge the ward people to key behind a political leader who will bear the pains of his people on his shoulder, commending the ward people over the vote of confidence passed on Hon. Leo Ogor and Comrade Ovuzuorie Macaulay. He assure them that Hon. Leo Ogor and Comrade Ovuzuorie Macaulay will never fail them.

Etuwede III: First Isoko Monarch to bag International Peace Award


Saturday September 24th 2016 will remain history as HRM DR H.O.U Etuwede III, the Ovie of Uzere Kingdom became the first Isoko Monarch to bag UN-POLAC Ambassador Of Peace Award. 

This came as his enthronement on the royal stool brought peace to the troubled kingdom after the community depose their former monarch over his actions that brought about violence which led to the death of some indigenes. 

According To Alhaji Paxman Ekpuzo, National Chairman Of UN-POLAC, he said HRM (Dr.) Henry Etuwede III is the 1st Isoko monarch to bag the United Nations International Peace Ambassador Award. Ambassador HRM Dr. Henry O. Ukenukpepia Etuwede III is the grandson of HRH Etuwede II.
