The Uzere Grammar School Old Student Association (UGSOSA) recently held its 1st Annual Conference and Award Ceremony at the School Hall.
In his address the President of UGSOSA Chief Joseph Ubeleke said that “In 1999 when we celebrated the 25th Anniversary of this citadel of learning, I thought I was making a valedictory statement, when I declared a glorious end to my tenure as the National President of the great Association but the yearnings of members to remain in office provided the excuse for me today to make yet another appearance as a President”.

Chief Ubeleke also said that, the whole idea for the formation of this Association was a dream by one of us Sir (Hon.) Propser Irogbo who was driven by what he experienced in a reception ceremony hosted by the old Boys Association of James Welch Grammar School, Emevor in honour of Hon. Benjamin Ogbalo and Hon. Eta Davies whom were elected Councilor Chairman and Councilor respectively in 1997.
According to him, Hon. Prosper Irogbo was intrigued when he saw the calibre  of personalities produced by James Welch Grammar School and the kind of honour bestowed on the Council Chairman and the Councilor. Non-accordance of such encomium on him was the genesis of what motivated him to form the present association we now celebrate.
Also speaking at the event, the Principal of Uzere Grammar School, Elder Moses Ozaze asserted that, the importance of old students association to any institution cannot be over emphasized. Saying that, they are a major stakeholder in the education industry. They synergize with the school administration in ensuring that the school continue to produce vibrant individuals that can affect society positively.
