The Chairman of Isoko South Local Government Council, Sir Itiako Ikpokpo has suspended the President General of Uzere community, Engr Felix Enwenede for a period of one month over his inability to enforce leadership, and maintain peace and security in the community.
The suspension of Engr Felix Enwenede emanated from an enlarged security meeting of Isoko South local government area, presided over by the executive chairman of the council, Sir Malik Itiako to assess the level of peace in Uzere following the tension created over #20m oil largesse that was released to the youth that was hijacked by the community leadership.
The meeting held on the 9 October 2019, has in attendance, the traditional rulers, Community President Generals, Prominent Leaders of Isoko South, President General of Isoko Development Union, Area Commander of Ozoro Area Command, and Heads of Security agencies in the Local Government.
Sir Ikpokpo also mandated the Chairman of Uzere community, Mr Kent Ebre to administer the affairs of the community as Acting President General pending the outcome of the investigations of the Police on some allegations levelled against Engr Felix Enwenede.
A reliable source had revealed that the embattled President General Engr. Felix Ewenede had allegedly removed the youth leader Comrade Frank Adaka without following due process and installed his own protégé which resulted to protests by those loyal to Frank Adaka and shops of both opposing parties were burnt, thereby creating fresh crisis in the Kingdom and the Chairman of the council through the security meeting decided to suspend him for a month while the incident is being investigated.
The meeting further mandated the Sir Eto led Isoko South Land Disputes and Traditional Matters Committee, (ISLDTMC) to resolve permanently the lingering Uzere/ Igbide land dispute with Chief D. Etaluku for Igbide community and Chief Iduh Amadhe for Uzere community as leaders of the delegation for each community.
Sir Eto led ISLDTMC to liase with the leadership of Umeh Community towards finding lasting solution to the alleged encroachment on Umeh land by Bulu- Agiama community ( Patani LG) and Ohoro community ( Ughelli North).
The meeting mandated the Oleh Divisional Police Officer to mediate between the immediate past President General of Emede Community and his successor on issue of proper and final handling over.
