The Uzere women elites headed by Comrade Patience Ejekegba has protested over non recipient of #3m from the twenty-million naira (#20m) oil largesse that was released to the youth for skill acquisition that was allegedly hijacked by the community leadership in connivance with one Comrade Colombus Oguname, a former president-general which led to the suspension of the mid-year conference and resulted to the burning of the community two vehicles.

The leader of the Uzere women elites, Comrade Patience Ejekegba, while speaking to IMirror through phone conversation, she disclosed that after the intervention of the Isoko South Council Chairmen on the way forward to ushering in peace to Uzere Kingdom, it was unanimously agreed by both parties that, the sharing formula should incorporate the women and as such, the women were given the sum of three million naira (#3m), while the men should also get (#3m and #2:2m was given to the youth as replacement for their  vehicle that was burnt and #10m was also released to the youth as their skill acquisition fund while the community exco was given Eight hundred thousand naira (#800,000).

Furthermore, she explained that the protest was carried out on the ground that while other parties in the matter have received their share of the money as shared during the peace intervention meeting by the council chairman, the women are yet to receive theirs and when they confronted the President-General for explanation, but, to their consternation, Mr Felix Ewenede had informed them that the women’s money is with Comrade Colombus Oguname who was a former President-General of the community five years ago.

She narrated further that during the protest over the issue by the women on 26 September 2019, she alleged that Comrade Colombus Oguname visited the community and secretly summoned the Oletu Ewheyae and some women, appealing to them to stop the protest, while assuring them that they will get theirs once the money being expected by the community is released, but she wondered why would Comrade Colombus being allowed to play the role of the President-General when he is not, stressing that this was a man who took the community to court when he failed his second term election, it is worrisome and unacceptable and therefore appealed to all stakeholders of the community to come to the aid of Uzere Kingdom so as to free the Kingdom from the hands of “DARKNESS”.

As at the time of filing this report, all efforts to reach the President-General, Mr Felix Ewenede proved abortive as he refused to return calls and respond to text messages
