A legal Practitioner
Barr. (Mrs) Josephine Emiaso has stated that, rule of kill and divide is the
bane of the Isoko ethnic nationality. She made this known during the 44th
year anniversary/re-union of Emede Grammar School Old Students Association
recently.
According to Barr. (Mrs)
Emiaso, the rule of kill and divide has made the Isoko ethnic nationality to
operate from the local level to national level, and that has eaten deep into
our own life, as a result, our youths now see there is injustice in the land.
According to her, today
you see an elderly person who will come out to tell the youths blatant lies,
the youths knows the elder is lying and you will discover that the youths have
no regard for their elder. What will the youths now do, they will want to enjoy
what the elder is enjoying, if they can get it through peace they will get it
through violence, and that is what we are seeing in Isoko land today.

further said that, “It is only in Isokoland I came to realize that, when your
brother is contesting for a position, it is his brother that will write a
petition against him to ensure he lose that position. Even if that your brother
is a devil you know, support him and later you call him, what you are doing is
not good, but rather we fight openly and pull him down, and that has transferred
to our children.
She also asserted that,
today in the school system, students see their teacher who is correcting them
as their enemy. Noting that, the problem of insecurity and violence all over
the world is as a result of modern technological communication which has
introduced so many vices to our children, children no longer read their books,
all they do is to browse the internet without purpose.
She also said that, the
onus of training of children rest on the mothers, the mothers of today are no
longer qualify to become mothers. “While I am saying it, I am a life example of
a mother, I have all boys as children and none of them dare look me straight to
the eyes. It is because of the legacy I have laid down”.
She reiterate that, “It
is the duty of the mother to supervise the children, because the father is out
there hustling for daily bread. But today, some mother will go and buy
examination answers for their children and even meet lecturers to give their
children good grade”. A child you bought answers for during WAEC, NECO, JAMB
and up to the university level, you still buy lecturers all over, if he or she
get to the work place, will you still buy the manager over? No mother will tell
me, children of nowadays and I will tell you, oh mother of nowadays!
