Okowa's Development Magic in Isoko Land

By Owho Warri

At the inception of the current administration of Senator Ifeanyi Okowa in 2015 measures were immediately put in motion to accelerate infrastructural development across the state. The deliberate effort of the government has indeed paid off as can be seen in the numerous projects so far completed, and many that are currently going on. In the two Isoko local government areas, the present administration has executed many projects that include roads, schools, markets, which have impacted positively on the lives of residents of the various communities where the projects are sited.

The joy and excitement of the people, who are direct beneficiaries of the infrastructures, can be seen from the many encomiums on the governor for bringing succor to them through the different projects. Some of the projects include the completed and commissioned reconstructed Ibrahim Kefas road, Oleh; the reconstructed Old Ozoro Oleh road; construction of Internal roads in Otor-Iyede; the reconstructed Oleh Campus Road to Uzere junction; construction of Old Aradhe Ellu road Phase I; rehabilitation of Ofagbe Technical College Ofagbe, which was in very dilapidated state when the current administration came on board, rehabilitation of Okpolo Primary School Okpolo-Enhwe; rehabilitation of Six classroom block at Emehwa Primary School Emevor. Others are the rehabilitation of Ellu Primary School Ellu; the newly constructed iconic Isoko Unity House, which was recently commissioned by Governor Ifeanyi Okowa earlier this year, the remodelling of Uzere Grammar School, Uzere. The above listed projects are part of the many achievements recorded by the Okowa led administration in Isoko land in the last three years. Some residents of the various communities where these projects are sited who expressed joy and appreciation to the Okowa led administration disclosed that before now there had been tales of terrible experience due to bad conditions of roads in their areas. According to Kingsley Komofa Evivie, from Oleh, Isoko South, "Before now our people had difficulty making use of the roads. But today, social and economic activities have improved tremendously. I want to use this medium to thank Governor Okowa for the good job he is doing not only in Isoko South but across the state." For Mr. Ferguson Akiri, from Ozoro, Isoko North, " Governor Okowa has won the hearts of many Deltans as a result of the infrastructure he has put in place. No community is left out in his developmental efforts. I commend him and wish him God's strength" On his part, Mr. Roland Unuezi, from Owhelogbo, in Isoko North, "We are seeing a lot of development since the current administration came on board. Our people have not had it this good. Thanks to Governor Okowa." A native of Ellu in Isoko North, Mr. Omowera, Stephens Sabigod, maintained that, " the provision of basic infrastructures such as roads, markets, schools in Isoko land by the Okowa led government has tremendously improved the lives of our people. And I give kudos to the governor, on behalf of our people." Ajiri-Oghene Edoreh, from Umeh, Isoko South, commended the governor for bringing development to the grassroots especially in the area of roads construction, saying Governor Okowa has proved to be a lover of the people at the grassroots. For Mrs Felicia Unute, from Emede, Isoko South, "Governor Okowa is a blessing to us.

I appreciate his genuine efforts as regards his concern for the plight of rural dwellers, in terms of roads provision. I particularly commend him for the 10 kilometre Aviaria/Araya Road. He has done well. And I call on Deltans to continue to support him so he could do more for our people." Mr. Alex Ibobi Ovie, an indigene of Irri, Isoko South, who was visibly elated over the transformation of many communities in Isoko land, noted that "many communities in Isoko can now be easily accessed due to the many roads constructed in recent times by the current administration. I thank Governor Okowa for the much he has done for my people. God will continue to grant him grace to to do more. For me, his reelection is settled because Deltans are happy for what he has achieved."
