Be Involved In Securing Your Communities, Okowa Urges Retired Military Officers

DELTA State Governor, Senator Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa has called on retired military personnel to be involved in ensuring peaceful and secured communities.
According to the Governor, the experience garnered by the retired military personnel should not be wasted, but, be employed in ensuring that their localities are safe.
The Governor made the call yesterday [27-07-17] in Asaba, when General Orho Obada [Rtd] led Retired Army, Navy and Air-force Officers Association (RANAO), Warri Branch, to pay him a courtesy call.

He stated that the experience of retired military and para-military officers would be useful in the maintenance of security and peace in the communities, assuring that his administration would partner with RANAO for the existing peace in Delta State to be consolidated.
"This is the type of partnership that is very useful in terms of being an advisory body to the state government and within the communities you reside, concerning security issues and I know that with your experience your advice will be very instructive and intuitive,” the Governor said.
He continued, "it is important that you are represented at stakeholders’ meetings on security issues where you  can offer suggestions based on your experience on security; I believe that as Deltans you can also contribute to the growth and development of the state.''
The Governor commended the association for the initiative of gathering themselves together after retirement to contribute their quota to the growth of the society and government.
Earlier, the Chairman of the Association, Colonel Morris Ideh, congratulated the Governor on the developmental stride of his administration in the state, explaining that the association which has General Orho Obada (rtd) as patron would partner with government in contributing to the development of the state.

"The major aim of this association is to provide competent advice to the security operatives and government on security issues as it concerns our various communities,” he said.
