Social media
group Umeh Need Road Forum recently donates food items, clothes and cash to
acquire First Aid materials to Gilgal Revolutionary Centre Orphanage Home,
Irri, Isoko South Local Government Area, Delta State .
Speaking
during the presentation of the food items the administration of Umeh Need Road
Forum. Barr. Duncan Akpovienehe Afahokor asserted that “some weeks back the
pastor called him that they don’t have food, the children have not eaten, I
send the little one I had, but within me I know that cannot really solve the
problem. My friend Lucky Edafe Ewenede also called me that it is terrible out
there, we need to do something”.
Barr.
Afahokor further stated that, “what we have here was put together by members of
Umeh Need Road Forum and we believe that it is not only the government alone
can support the society, we as individuals should also contribute their quota
in elevation of humanity by extension to the society”.
Barr.
Afahokor also noted that the forum is very happy with the testimonies so far on
the education performance of the children.

When asked
why other social media group are not emulating them, Barr. Afahokor noted that,
“Everybody cannot do the same thing but any other group that can really come up
to support what we are doing we will be very grateful, today you can see the
challenge here is enormous we are talking about 180 children, if one bag of rice
is for 1 day, that means all what we have done is just for 15 days. What will
now happen after 15 days?, he asked rhetorically.
He therefore
reiterated that it means they have to go back and tell the people that they
have more work to do and believing that they will continue to support in their
own little way.
The
administrator of the group however appeal to well meaning individuals in the
society to come up to support the orphanage home, stating that, imagine 180
children, majority are orphans are thrown into the street, one could imagine
the havoc, they need to support them because that is where they can have the
balance, he noted.
He also
eulogize all those that sacrificed for the project and charge them not to give
up or be discouraged, noting that, they are sowing in a fertile ground that any
investment into this course is an investment they will all reap in a way they
will never imagine.
Meanwhile,
the chairman of the committee who put the items donated together Mr. Lucky
Edafe Ewenede also said that, Umeh Need Road Forum find it easy to be caring
and touching the less privilege life when they know they have challenges.
According to
him, since last year I have been a member of the committee and we have been
mobilizing to ensure we always meet most of the needs of the orphanage home in
our little way and in the future we will try to repeat what we have done today
as God bless us.
Speaking to imirror,
the senior pastor Gilgal Revolutionary Centre, Rev. Abraham also said “what
this forum has done today is God blessing and I believe if God has not touched
the people they cannot do this, I appreciate what they have done and God will
reward them abundantly”.
He also
stated that, what this group has done today will encourage other social media
group or association to do what they have done. It takes seeing deep to do
this, considering the present economic condition of the country but having deep
revelation from God have encouraged them.
Items
donated by the Forum are: 15 bags of rice, 5 bags of beans, liquid soaps, 54
tubers of yams, a cartoon of ice fish, 20 liters of palm oil and
a bag of children clothes and one hundred thousand naira (N100,000) cash
donation for First Aid materials by the group administrator
It was also
noted at the event that Barr. Afahokor has been paying the enrolment fees of
WAEC for the past two years for the children of the orphanage homes.
