Speaking during the event the Director
of Finance and Administration (DESOPADEC) Bashorun Askia Ogieh, ably
represented by Mr. Lawrence Eduje, he lauded the state governor Dr. Ifeanyi
Okowa for changing the face of Uzere Grammar School to a model school through
Bashorun Askia Ogieh, noting that, he wished he was alma-mater of the school .

He also enjoined the people to
support the SMART AGENDA of the Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa led administration which
enable them enjoy the dividends of democracy.
Also speaking at the event the
principal of Uzere Grammar School,Elder Moses Ozeze said that, the importance
of sports in school and in life of an individual cannot be overemphasized,
noting that, It makes the individual fit and healthy, it equally builds
character and values in an individual and teaches honesty, teamwork and fair
play.

Elder Ozeze noted that, gone are the
days when those involved in sporting activities were regarded as wasting their
precious time, saying that, sports have become very lucrative and it has also
become an employer of labour around the world. The sports today will afford us
the opportunities of showcasing the talents and skills of our students.

The school principal while commending
the effort of the State Governor Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa who gave approval for the
massive renovation and new look of the school through the Director of Finance
and Administration of DESOPADEC Bashorun Askia Ogieh an old student of the
school, noted that, Uzere Grammar School has become a cynosure for Isokos and
all Deltans, because it represent a new look.

He also lauded the effort of some of
the old students like Prince Sam Ogri who has been registering 25 students for
NECO on yearly basis,Chief Sunny Oduose and Napoleon Akpughe who joined him in
registering 5 students each for 2018 NECO exams.

At the end of the Inter-House
Athletics Competition, Afiemo House emerged over all winner of the competition
while Olokor House and Bashorun Askia Ogieh House came 2nd and 3rd
respectively.
