Ewheaye Isoko empowers women with high profile cassava species

In a bid to support the Delta State Government administration led by Dr.Ifeanyi Okowa in the area of self reliance through agriculture, women group known as Ewheaye Isoko has empowered women in the area with high profile cassava stems species. 

Speaking to newsmen at the 2.5 hectares of cassava farmland planted in the Isoko South secretariat, the president of Ewheaye Isoko, (home branch), Hon. Mrs. Catherine Ilolo stated that, the cassava stems that are being given out today are high profile species that contains vitamin A, saying that, we bought them from ITT Ibadan last year and planted them, we are now trying to spread them across the area in order for our women and people to benefit from them. 

Hon. Mrs. Ilolo who is also the commissioner Local Government Service Commission also reiterate that the cassava stems are high profile species that contains vitamin A that will help those who are suffering from diabetes and eye problem and reduce sickness in the area, noting that, the cassava stems species they have in the area contains so much ingredients that are not good for human health. 

She further said that, in the future the youths from the area will be involve in the process to encourage them to be self-reliance through agriculture, saying that for now the process is basically for the women. 

She however lauded the effort of the Isoko South Local Government Council chairman Hon.Costantine Ikpokpo for providing them 2.5 hectares of land in the secretariat for the cassava farmland,that they are happy for his successful re-election for second tenure. 

Meanwhile, the Isoko South Local Government Council chairman Hon.Constantine Itiako  Ikpokpo who was on ground to monitor the progress of the exercise hinted that, the cassava farm is a pilot scheme of the Ewheaye Isoko and they are using it to empower our mothers with the high profile cassava stems species that contains vitamin A. 

Hon.Ikpokpo further noted that, the Isoko women are very industrious people, saying that what Ewheaye Isoko has done is in line with the Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa led administration of self reliance through agriculture. 

He also said that,the initiative of the Ewheaye Isoko is a good idea,noting that,we are no longer in the era were people rely solely on the government to do everything for them,the only thing we did for Ewheaye Isoko was to provide land for them.

He therefore urged other women group in the State and beyond to emulate the smart initiative of the Ewheaye Isoko.
