Soldier who raped undergraduate in Ondo now in custody - Police

The police in Ondo have said that a soldier, who allegedly raped a female undergraduate of Adekunle Ajasin University Akungba, has been arrested.

The soldier had on July 31 raped the 300level student of the institution at a military checkpoint in the Ikare Akoko area of the state.

Confirming the arrest of the military personnel, spokesperson for the Ondo State Police Command, Femi Joseph, said investigation into the matter had begun.

Joseph disclosed that the suspected rapist was handed over to the Command on Friday by the military authorities.

He said, "I can confirm that he (the soldier) is now in our custody and he will be charged to court after the completion of our investigation.

"By next week after the holiday, we shall charge him to court."
