Adeyola Afonja, a 37-year-old woman, has beaten her eight-year-old daughter to death for stealing her N350.
The Plateau High Court on Wednesday directed her remand in prison.
The police charged Afonja, who lives at Etobaba Village, Jos North, with punishable homicide, an offence punishable with death if found guilty.
Justice Gang postponed the case until Oct. 8, for the continuation of hearing and to allow her get legal representation.
The Prosecution Counsel, Insp. Onegbenoise Osho had earlier informed the court that the accused person used a cable wire to whip her daughter in a bid to correct her after she stole N350 from her mum.
Osho claimed that the little girl fell during the fatal beating and was rushed to the Plateau State Specialist Hospital where she was announced dead on arrival.
The prosecutor continued that the accused instantly notified her husband, Mr Anisuida Felix, whom she is separated from about the issue.
Felix then eported the matter at the Nasarawa Gwom Police Station.
