Many of our youths
are being used for political thuggery everyday by day, fighting and destroying
properties worth several millions of naira on each occasion when there is
crisis. The question is, where are the children of these politicians using
other peoples children to create havoc in Isoko land? The answer is simple
their children are not there but schooling in abroad.
The latest is the
resolved Igbide and Enwhe crisis which claimed scores of lives and properties
worth several millions of naira. On this note Isoko mirror reporters went out
to seek peoples opinions and advice for the youths. Read on:
Barr Mrs. Monica
Ighota
“Before I advice
the youths especially the ones that are used for communal crisis, we have to go
to the root cause of the problem. Why our youths are been used or why are they
involved in crime?
Barr.Mrs.Monica Ighota(lawyer) |
The background
matters (which is the family) is the first place a child comes from, for
instance, in our Nigeria constitution a youth should be at least 18 years and
above and if the parents fail to manage them when they are young they will go
astray.
That is why it is
paramount for parents to manage their children and install discipline in them.
However my advice
to the youths is
1.The
government do more in terms of providing employment and creating enabling
environment for the private sector to thrive.
As a result of
this spirit of disunity we’ve not been able to achieve the desire benefit
anything compare to other ethnic nationality, although outside Isoko we are
united.

* My only advice
to the youth is that they should be God fearing. The fear of God that will make
them to know
what is right and wrong so that they will not fall prey to the
politicians not to exploit the current prevailing economic situation of the
country to use them for the wrong thing knowingfully well that the politicians
will always dump them after using them for selfish reasons.

* My advice for the youths is that they
should know God, fear God and respect
their parents.
The Bible even
made it clear that he/she that obey his/her parent will attain a better future.
The benefit the Isoko nation has attained since they left the Urhobo western
division is that we are closer to the government by having our own local
government. Also we have a say at the state level and federal level.

“My advice to the
youth is to get themselves acquainted with one job, this will enable them shun
violence if they have work to do to earn a living it will be difficult for our
present politician to manipulate them, since they cannot be easily influenced
when they have something
doing”.
‘In answer to the
first question, the development has not been up to expectation in terms of
social amenities, education and security issues. The government have not done
well for the Isoko nations unlike their counterparts, Urhobo and Itsekiri.

From my
observation, the Isoko nation is not doing up to expectation so far in all
aspects. For instance,
my sister who is based in the Urhobo area always commend
the good works of the government unlike us in the Isoko nation which lacks
infrastructural and social amenities.
And my advice to
the youth is to focus on God, they should at all time be committed to the works
of God.
Prince Edike
For me, the Isoko
Nation and their government has tried. Recently, it was declared in the
National House of Assembly that the Isoko Local Government is one of the best
(3) three local governments out of the 25 local government in Delta State in
terms of development. We should try to support the government so that there
will be more development.
To answer the
second question, I think the youth should be re-oriented towards their future
and know their worth. Infact, the politicians who are engaging in violence have
their children schooling in abroad. If the politician, know what they are doing
is good, why not use their children?

So far the
government has tried in terms of development in all area like education,
security, power supply. If you look around you will see that we have good road
network, a commendable power supply even the educational sector.
The Isoko
Nation have produced good and responsible students who can take the nation to
the next level. We should all pray for them to do more.
My advice to the
youth is that they should not allow themselves to be used by the politician
they should know that the politician are not wishing them good, instead they should engage in something more
beneficial.
