Except the lord builds, the builder
builds in vain- Eko

Oleh community Development union (OCDU) Lagos branch will perform the
foundation laying ceremony of their proposed secretariat on the 31st

building committee, Mr. Obi commander Eko, he shed more light on the project
and the community level of preparation.
Mr. Obi commander Eko |
Excerpt:
Let us know you and how long have you
been the chairman of the building committee and what are some of your
achievements so far?
First
and foremost, my name is Mr. Obi commander Eko and I have been the chairman of
the Oleh community Development union (OCDU) lagos branch building committee
since 2014 and under my chairmanship collectively, we have been able to
purchase a plot of land to erect our proposed secretariat whose foundation, by
the special grace of God, we are going to lay on the 31st march
2018.
-
Except the lord builds, the builder builds in vain, the building of the secretariat
is committed to the hands of God almighty. As someone who believes in God, I
know and believe that God almighty that started this building will finish it
for us in Jesus name.
I
think, one of the achievement recorded so far is that my committee is not owing
any kobo and all documents relating to the plot of land has been perfected. I
also want to say that all oleh indigenes resident in Lagos have been very
co-operative. I say this because without their co-operation my committee will
not have been able to purchase the land we are talking about today.
What is the level of preparation
towards the foundation laying ceremony taking place on the 31st
march 2018?
Well,
the preparation is on going and I think with what we have on ground now, we are
highly prepared. Regarding this ceremony we have set up a committee which
reports to the general House and from what we have received so far, I must say
that we are all happy with the progress made so far with what will happen on
the 31st. I think, to God be the glory, we are on ground.
During the period under review, were
there any hiccups especially in the areas of sourcing funds?
Yes,
normally when it comes to issue of money, there will always be hiccups, there
is no doubt about that. Some of the hiccups we faced was in the area of levies,
the response was low, maybe due to the present economic situation in the
country. Apart from that there were no problems because some paid on time. In
all, Glory be to God almighty, the land has been purchased and the foundation
ceremony will take place on the 31st march 2018.
Now that the foundation of the OCDU
Lagos branch is coming to reality, what are your expectations?
I
think what is going to take place on that day is a challenge to all of us
because everybody is expected to contribute in one way or the other to make the
foundation laying ceremony a success. Let me refer to a speech made by one Navy
admiral of Great Britain, during the anniversary of the battle of Tralfagar,
lord vice admiral Horatio Nelson, he said “England expect that every man will
do his duty” therefore it is a clarion call to all prominent sons and daughters
of oleh to support this noble cause to make oleh a better place. I also want to
use this medium to invite and appeal to all oleh sons and daughters in diaspora
and well-wishers to donate generously on th 31st to ensure that the
dream of oleh community Development union, Lagos branch comes to a reality.
Any advise for the people?
I
want to advise that our young ones should make effort to attend meetings as one
of their priority so as to move oleh forward and I also want to appeal to all
oleh sons and daughters to pay up their levies because this will make the
project to progress as expected.
And
conclusively, I want to appeal to all Oleh sons and daughters to show some
concern regarding any activity especially in the areas of projects like this
and form a synergy and collectively move Oleh forward.
