Viral video reveals Warri prophet allegedly stages miracles to defraud members

...Video was doctored, aimed to tarnish my image- Prophet

By Elo Edromoda

A video currently viral, claims a prophet, Melody Adjija, founder of Light Way Ministry, in Warri, Delta state, has been staging miracles for his congregation and other unsuspecting members of the public.

A Facebook user identified as Otuedon Yemi shared a post which gave details about Melody's arrest and the charges laid against him.

The video which did not specify date or timing of recording, portrays the alternating interrogation of the prophet, alongside a young man, Osaeki Ehis, who is from Oredo in Edo state.

The Edo-born suspect confessed to giving fake confirmations of prophesies by the pastor who had earlier received his picture from an agent identified simply as Loveth, for the payment of N5,000.

The duo who were allegedly interrogated by CSP Eyoh Aniete, are suspected accomplices, as both mentioned the name of a lady, Loveth, who resides in Agbor, another area of the state.

Loveth, the prophet claimed, had confessed to being a witch, for the same amount of money.

Prophet Adjija in the video accepted that he is a false prophet and he had being defrauding and deceiving his church members. However, he tried to explain that he started church work as a true minister of God.

He also yielded to allegations of prophesying to internet fraudsters, commonly known as 'yahoo yahoo boys', resolving that he has no defense against the accusations.

But in another development, Prophet Adjija denied the report, stating that there was never a time he was in a room with the alleged accomplice, Ehis.

He however admitted that sometime in February, he was invited for questioning by the police, but left promptly with his aides after discussions.

Melody Adjija further stated that the video was "doctored" and intended to "tarnish my image. I was never arrested nor invited in respect to what was painted in that video."

Meanwhile, CSP Eyoh who was recently redeployed from the Ovwian /Aladja Divisional Police Headquarters in Udu council area, could not be reached for comments as at the time of filing this report.
