A 12-year-old boy named, Michael Ola, has escaped from the hands
of kidnappers, who abducted him up from Udu in the evening of Monday.
He however managed to escape at a spot in Warri, Delta State,
where the kidnappers were seated for a drink before completing their mission.
According to the little boy who narrated his ordeal on his
release, he was sent to buy fresh pepper at the popular Jigbale Market in
Ovwian, Udu Local Government Area, when he was accosted by some men and was
forced inside a Toyota Camry car and driven away
He disclosed that his legs and hands were later tied and he was
kept in the boot of the car. Luck, however, came his way when the
kidnappers packed the car at a spot in Osubi to catch a drink and so open
the booth of the car to allow the victim catch some fresh air before taking him
to their den, apparently for ritual purposes.
He added that he quickly untied himself by breaking the cord
with his teeth and ran away into a nearby Church, God’s Grace Ministry, in
Osubi, from where he was taken back to Udu before eventually reuniting with his
family.
Honourable Peter Agadagba, a former Councillor with Udu Local
Government Council, into whose care the boy was released, expressed shock at
the new wave of security breach in the area, stressing that the antics of
ritualists operating with small cars was on the rise.
He disclosed that the kidnappers were fond of luring young
boys and girls out of their home or forcing them to enter their vehicles along
the road before they are taken to unknown places for ritual purposes.
He also warned parents to be weary of the movements of their
wards in this Yuletide season.
