Factional HOSTCOM Accuses Okowa Of Rejection Amid Authenticity Claims

Delta State Youth Wing of Host Communities of Nigeria (Producing Oil & Gas) loyal to the Hon. Benjamin Iwetan led executive, has accused the State Governor, Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa of rejection despite two subsisting court orders in their favour and mobilizing for him in the 2015 election.

The HOSTCOM youth wing while quoting court judgments in suit No W/467/2013 in the High Court of Justice, Udu Judicial Division and suit No W/383/2016 delivered by Justice P.O. Onajite Ikuejubola in the High Court of Justice Warri as evidences of the authenticity of Hon. Iwetan leadership, noted that Governor Okowa has continue to pay deaf ears to"countless letters of complaints" written to him with a view to solving the leadership crisis.

In a petition addressed to Governor Okowa after exhaustive deliberations on the issue after a meeting held Tuesday November 20 at Rewane Villa in Warri, the youths drawn from Ijaw, Itsekiri, Urhobo, Isoko, Ndokwa and Ika, "observed that the governor is using divide and rule strategy on the crisis in HOSTCOM Delta State Chapter".

The petition signed by Comrade Itse Omajugho-youth leader, Comrade Paul Uwadia-youth publicity secretary, Comrade Ajemijeroma Mene-Ejegi-youth leader of Itsekiri chapter, Comrade Nelson Osemi-youth leader of Ijaw chapter, Comrade Green Aziza-youth leader of Urhobo chapter, Comrade Emeka Ojimiwe-youth leader of Ndokwa chapter, Comrade Kelvin Oviri-youth leader of Isoko chapter and Comrade Smarton Inneh-youth leader of Ika chapter, averred, "we submitted to Pa Okowa's (the governor's father) reconciliation /harmonization committee and some top government officials and political leaders in the state who waded into the matter with a view of reaching out to the governor to bring the two factions together as ordered by the court judgments, even when the illegal group disrespectfully shunned the several calls, yet the governor still maintains silence on the matter".

While warning that they may be forced "to take our destiny in our hands" since peaceful negotiations have failed, the HOSTCOM youth leaders stressed," we therefore call on the Delta State Government to urgently rise up to its responsibilities not to allow the present situation rocking HOSTCOM Delta State chapter to degenerate into serious crisis in all the ethnic nationalities" in the State.
