Why UNIBEN undergradute killed mother

There was pandemonium at Iyamu Street, off Textile Mill Road, in Benin City on Thursday when a 22-year-old undergraduate allegedly murdered his 55 years old mother for refusing to give him money.
The undergraduate who was identified as Caleb Obasogie and last child of the deceased mother, Josephine Igbineweka, allegedly committed the crime at about 8 am in their residence at 31A, Iyamu Street, Off Textile Mill Road, Benin City.

INDEPENDENT gathered that the suspect locked himself and his mother in a room in their apartment, stabbed and ripped her stomach with a broken Pepsi bottle and dangled her mother’s womb before neighbours who rushed in in an attempt to rescue her.
It was also learnt that the deceased had passed the previous night in a neighbour’s house after her killer son locked her out for not giving him the money he demanded from her.
A woman who claimed to have accommodated the deceased overnight when her son locked her out and other neighbours, described the tragedy as unfortunate, horrible and a scene in a vampire movie.
Caleb Obasogie who is a final year education student of the University of Benin has been arrested and is being detained at Textile Mill Road police division in Benin City, for killing his late mother who was a beer parlour operator in Benin.
His arrest was confirmed by spokesman of Edo Police Command, DSP Moses Nkombe.
