It has been more than 20 years since Yinka Ayefele lost the
use of his legs in a ghastly motor accident. Yinka Ayefele has expressed
optimism that he will still walk again, he made this known while sharing his
experience in life without the use of his leg. The popular musician made this
known in a recent interview with punchng.com, where he spoke about the music
industry, life without the use of his legs.
The singer was asked if he went through a phase of denial
when he realized that he wouldn’t be able to walk again, he said: “At a point,
yes! But I’m an incurable optimist. I’m of the firm belief that nothing is
impossible. I know I will still walk again. I believe that with God, all things
are possible.
Yinka Ayefele is a Nigerian music producer and gospel singer,
he began his music career in 1997 after he was involved in an automobile accident which damaged his spinal cord and confined him to a wheelchair.
While in the hospital after spending about 9 months, his
friend, Kola Olootu visited and advised him to put some songs together. This
suggestion resulted in the release of his debut album titled, Bitter Experience
in 1998 which brought him into the limelight.
Yinka Ayefele, who is a successful Yoruba gospel singer,
remembered the life-changing incident on his Instagram page on, Tuesday,
December 12, 2017. The singer shared a picture collage of his crushed car and
him before the accident. “Exactly 20years Today, 12th of December 1997 MY
TURNING POINT ……………….
Glory be to GOD ALMIGHTY for his love and kindness over my
life from the past 20 years since i had that accident, it was indeed “my
turning point”….. i am grateful to you lord for making me a “living testimony
“….. and i sincerely say a big thank you to all my fans all over the world for
your unflinching support for the past twenty years…………. where ever you’re,
please acknowledge god on my behalf” he wrote.
Yinka Ayefele also shared footage of his first music video
after the accident. The video contains clips of him before the accident, the
wrecked car and him during rehabilitation in the hospital.
The accident left him with a damaged spinal cord. The tragic
accident did not stop him from having a successful music career. He started his
singing career after the accident.
Yinka Ayefele has 21 albums in his discography. Prior to the
accident, Ayefele was a broadcaster and journalist who worked with the Federal
Radio Corporation of Nigeria in Ibadan.
He hails from Ekiti is an ambassador of his state. In
2011, he was awarded the Member of the Order of the Niger by Goodluck Ebele
Jonathan.
