The
ceremony attracted sons and daughters of the community including friends and
dignitaries across Lagos state
The
chairman, while urging members to be steadfast and remain united in ensuring
progress among members, he had stressed the importance of a language, noting
that language identifies the culture of a people, observing that, from the
looks of things, it is correct to say that the Isoko language is gradually facing
extinction and therefore advised parents and guardians to take it as a
responsibility to ensure that the Isoko language is spoken at all times. He
used the medium to advised members who have grown up children to encourage them
and close relatives to register as members to boast the numerical strength of
the branch.
and urged all members to be regulars at meetings.
Chief
Israel Soda, the udhedhe I of Irri
kingdom, expressed dismay at non-use of the language by parents to their children
at home, noting that the fault is from both side, stressing that the only
solution is for parents and guardians to always go along with their children
and wards to their town meetings to encourage them, pointing out that this
practice will go a long way in sensitizing and educating the children with the
Isoko language.
Earlier,
Chief sunny okedi was mandated by the chairman of Ivori-Irri to specially pray
for Dominus Ojero for his immense contributions to the progress of the branch.
The
chair lady of the women’s wing Mrs. Comfort Enifome Oveh expressed satisfaction
over the success of the event while the secretary of the union, Mr. Ochare Oboh
who anchored the ceremony ensure that food and drinks were served to the
satisfaction of every guest and members present.
