Maiden Owhelogbo day, a success. ….as Bishop Aruakpor, Iteheri, Akpotozor, others bags merit award.

The people of Owhelogbo Community including friends and high level dignitaries across the nation converged at the ultra-modern civic hall to celebrate first ever “Owhelogbo day" on the 22nd day of December, 2018.
The much colorful occasion drew all sons and daughters from far and near to celebrate, Identify, romance the aged long relationship between brothers, sisters and friends, as this was not unconnected with the Engr.  Ighota's led administration of Owhelogbo Community
Development Union (OCDU) littered eight months ago could foresee.
Participants, executives, leaders of thoughts, the Osewho and his retinue and other invited dignitaries who graced the occasion were just more than satisfied with the quality and standard of the first attempt by the executive. 
The chairman of the occasion, Brig-General (Dr) and Pastor Okpobrisi, in his opening speech admonished all sons and daughters alike to hold unto God and trust him for more blessings. The special guest of honour of the occasion was Comr.  Chief O. S. Macaulay the erstwhile SSG of Delta State and a celebrated son of the land. 
The guest Speaker, Rev.  (Dr)  Charles Apoki while delivering a speech on the topic “The challenges of our time with special reference to  community development " in his message, he advised all stakeholders to carry along the young ones to aid community development as one tree cannot make a forest. The audience applauded his message which serve as an eye opener to those above to provide a ladder for those below to climb as this will not only develop the individuals but the community and the nation at large. 
In conclusion of his message to the participants, he promised to work in juxtaposition with the executive to providing a skill acquisition center to keep the vulnerable youths off the streets of the community. 


The president, Engr Ighota James while presenting his welcome address, he had called on all sons, and daughters including friends of the community to lend a helping hand to keep the community healthy in the area of finance and especially crime as orchestrated by the exuberance of the contemporary youths and tracing same to their doorstep which has eaten deep into the fabrics of the entire community.  He highlighted the developmental plans ahead to make Owhelogbo an exemplary community.
Furthermore, he sensitized and educated the people on how OCDU was originated and how the name 'Iluelogbo' was changed to ' Owhelogbo', "Any thought, word or action, which falls short of love is evil and holds within itself the germs of its own eventual and inevitable destruction" with this he advised all to love one another, stressing that this will usher in peace and giant stride development at the grassroots of the community. 
At this juncture, the Board of Trustees was inaugurated. Trustees are: Prince Enajedu Simon, Dr. Anyway J. Oteri, Brig-General A. V. Okpobrisi (RTD), Engr. J. U Ighota and Mr. Simon Akiewe. 
Speaking on behalf of the newly inaugurated BOT, the chairman Prince Enajedu promised to uphold the interests of the community, and the occasion was used to honour some sons and daughters of the community who have one way or the other contributed immensely to the development of the Owhelogbo community


The awardees were split into category A and B. Category A were mainly posthumous while category B holds for developers, ambassadors, career pioneers and grand patrons of Owhelogbo... Others are patrons and certificates of excellence.
Some of the awardees are Comr. Chief O. S Macaulay, Elder J. Ijeruh, OON (retired federal permanent secretary), Hon. Mike Ogwah, and Professor Sam. Aghalino, Engr. Fred Edafioghor and Gen. Felix Edafioghor. Others are Bishop Oroh Iteheri,  Rt. Rev  J. U Aruakpor  , Bishop Monday Akpotozor and a host of other celebrated sons and daughters too numerous to mention. 
Speaking on behalf of the awardees, one Engr Ofeke Ben-Goru appreciated the elders for this outstanding recognition and uses the medium to call on the youths see this as a call to challenge for a good future. 
Speaking with news men in the occasion,  the president Engr Ighota  appreciated the chairman of the occasion, special guest of honour, the guest speaker,  members of BOT,  Hon Mike Ogwah,  Engr Monday Akporuno,  Engr Ben-Goru  Ofeke,  Imoni Amarere of AIT,  Owhelogbo Branches Council and allege executives and above all he added all glory be unto God Almighty. 
Some other dignitaries that graced occasion are:  Prof. Bridget Udubra-Imonikebe, Prof. Manasseh Imonikebe, Sir (Bar) and Lady (Dr.) Stanley Let's, Mr. and Mrs. Daniel Urhigbo (registration and Senate secretary, Delta State University and Chief Owho Ovuakporie. 
At the conference that preceded the 'Owhelogbo day' the Branches council under the leadership of Dr. Ofoh had promised the executive not to play antagonistic role rather be a stepping stone. 
Other deliberations revolve around security finance and the way forward in 2019.
