The people
Democratic party PDP has lamented the heights of insecurity, non-functional
educational system and poverty in the country.
The vice
presidential candidate of the PDP and former governor of Anambra state, Mr.
Peter Obi disclosed this while addressing women groups in diaspora at a
ceremony put together by the Honorable member representing Ajeromi Ifelodun
federal constituency of Lagos state, Hon. (Barr) Rita Orji, held at the federal
housing authority football pitch, Festac town on the 15th of January
2019.
Mr. Peter Obi who
fumed at the worsening situations of insecurity and high level of poverty
leading to high number of out of school children noted that the thread is Worrisome
and unacceptable and all discerning minds must reject this whole episode of
caricature in totality.
He noted that all
these are happening because the Buhari APC led government lacks policy
direction and the only thing they have succeeded in bringing to Nigerians is to create hunger among the populace,
stressing that the only alternative at the moment is to come out in enmasse to
vote out APC and vote in PDP, assuring
the people that the PDP government will usher in a new chapter in the
country political sojourn as Atiku Abubakar and Obi presidency, will turn
around the economy by creating jobs for the teaming youths of Nigeria.
The vice
presidential candidate further lamented that the current insecurity in the
country is fast deteriorating day by day and it is regrettable to an extent
that some governors had come out openly to shed tears while others are
agitating for declaration of state of emergency in their states and even the
president state Katsina is not save according to the state governor, Masari.
On his part, Jimi
Agbaje who came a little bit late to the programme, while commending the effort
of Hon. Rita Orji whom he referred to as a man because of her zeal and burning
energy in threading where some men cannot is a testimony to the fact that she
is a blessing to the people of Ajeromi Ifelodun federal constituency In view of
her wonderful performances in the last four years of her representation shows
she is a woman-man, mother and a leader.
Agbaje used the
medium to appeal to Lagosians to vote for freedom as Lagos is in bondage in the
hand of one man and suggested that the only way to gain that freedom is to come
out in enmasse during governorship election to vote for freedom so as to enjoy
the Lagos of our dreams.
“On March 2nd
2019, come out and vote for freedom, the era of man holding back Lagos from
progress and development in the name of Godfatherism must be Jettison by all
because Lagos belongs to all of us. I want to note here that if we vote for
freedom on March 2nd, by the special grace of God we will enjoy the
Lagos of our dreams”. He said.
The convener of
the event and house committee chairman on diaspora affairs had earlier informed
the mammoth crowd that the aims and objectives of the gathering is not to
campaign, but, to sensitize the women in diaspora to see themselves as source
of inspiration, noting that some of them who have ventured into politics and
elected have performed creditably well, showing good governance and able to
prove that women can do it if given the same parameter with men.
