Tension in Delta State, as gunmen kidnap traditional ruler and one other person, police declare war on them

There is palpable tension in Delta State as gunmen seems to be on rampage.
Some suspected gunmen on Thursday night kidnapped the Onu of Ebu Kingdom, HRM Paul Odilila Opili, and one other person along the Ila-Ebu road in Delta State, it is reported. It was learnt that the monarch was in his car with his driver and one other person when the incident occurred.
It is gathered that the driver, whose name is yet to be identified, escaped from the gunmen and reported the incident to the Police.
The incident has caused serious tension amongst the Igala speaking tribe, who are the minority tribe within the Anioma people of Delta State.
At the time of filing this report, the people are praying tha

t the monarch and the other victim should be released unhurt.
When contacted, the Delta State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Andrew Aniamaka confirmed the report.
DSP Aniamaka said, “We got a report from somebody who said he is the driver. He said he was in the car with the monarch alongside one other, when the gunmen accosted them yesterday night and that he was able to escape living the monarch and the other.”
DSP Aniamaka also stated that officers and men of the Nigeria Police Force have already swung into action with a view to rescuing the kidnapped persons
He stressed, “We suspect it’s a case of kidnapping. Our men are already in field to rescue the monarch. All hands must be on deck.”
DSP Aniamaka enjoined the public to promptly call the Police Control Room whenever such incident occurred.

He disclosed that the delay in calling the attention of the police gives hoodlums enough time to perfect their criminal acts.
